"Gentleman Farmer" is one step below "Hobby Farmer" which is one step below "Child Rapist" in the line of insults. GF's are the rich city people who buy a "farm" for tax shelter purposes and brag about their exploits which occurred as they watched the hired locals get hot an dirty from behind the windshield of the Beemer.

That would never have occurred to me to be an insult.
Thanks for the information.

Yesterday late afternoon, I stumbled into some more firewood logs, hauled them home, need to be cut up better and split. I thought I was done with cuttin/splittin this year? Some if it is Sugar Maple, my favorite smoking wood, if that wasn't part of the deal, I'd have left it all for someone else. There is also some cool looking locust tree of some sort? (judging by leaves) it has a real purty red core to the log...I may cut a few pieces of that for use on the Lathe.

Regarding the electric . If the fixture is inline check the connection between the it and the one ahead . If it is spidered check the wire nuts in the J box . Probably not the right terms . Think 1-2-3 vs
Box
/. I. \
1. 2. 3 .

Probably not a ground but I have seen a couple instances . Modern bulbs I've seen a few just act squirrely as a result of weird structure hum occasionally associated with vent/ceiling/AC fans and doors . Swap a known good bulb first before digging in the wiring ......KISS .

All CFLs are dodgy. The claim that they last up to seven years is also true, whether they are used much or not. I think they have a self-destruct timer. Also, I have the most trouble with the one on the end of a run of several.

I may have wrestled 1 or 2 bugs .

I lived in a house once that I finally just gave up on keeping a front porch light in . 90% of the traffic was back door anyway . If we didn't use the ceiling fan in the living room and the Master bedroom or the other 2 bedroom fans at the same time no problem . 12 hr was all it took poof .

Went to a buddies house today that recently had a neighbor pass away. He was a shotgun enthusiast so my brother and I were able to buy up some stuff from his wife. I don’t think he had loaded anything in 10-15 years. I came home with a pound of 2400, Universal, Clays, Longshot, and and 8 pound keg of Redot. $15 per pound for the powder.
I also was able to buy 500 pounds of number 7 & 8 shot for a dollar per pound. Pretty happy with today’s purchase.

GOOD DAY!!!
My buddy called and he said he had some lead for me!! We headed over. I got about 550/600# of range scrap!! Seems he got this and didnt know or wasnt able to do anything with it! All he asked for was replacement buckets. So 33$ in homer buckets and I got the lead!

So tomorrow Ill be smelting!

Morning temps were in the upper 40's So, considering it still is July I decide to smelt!
I had been sitting on about 90 lbs of "jacketed only" range scrap, along with some stick on wheel weights, a pile of 50/50 solder

Calculated the alloy for a 10 BHN alloy with 2% tin Perfect for wad cutters!

As I started filling the pot I decided the full amount was more than I wanted to tackle at a time; so went back in to the computer and came up with a split ....2/3 & 1/3 and the second batch only varied to 2.03% tin! (Love that Lead Alloy calculator "across the street")
Ended up with 80 lbs of wad cutter alloy

Since setting up to smelt is a bit of a chore...I decide to do a 3rd smelt of Pure Lead 19th Century gas pipe that my buddy Ed donated to my casting efforts (since I cast for him also). He has been in the natural gas business 45 years and always grabbed the old lead gas pipes as they were replaced in Scranton.
Did about 45 lbs of that and decided I hurt enough to stop!

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I'm trying to figure out an electrical issue in my basement this morning.
I have 3 light fixtures in the ceiling of my loading area.
They are just your typical fixture you can screw a bulb into minus the pull chain.
These were wired by the builder when the house was built.
Anyways, yesterday morning I heard a faint pop and the middle bulb in that run went dark.
I assumed the bulb had burned out and changed it. (100W equivalent CF)
When I got home from work yesterday turned the lights on and within a minute or two that same bulb went dark again.

This morning I went to Home Depot and bought a new porcelain fixture and just finished installing that.
Damn thing stays on about 30 to 60 seconds and goes dark.
It has a faint random flicker when I turn it on and then just goes all together.
The two end fixtures in the circuit are just fine.

I am not an electrician.
Any ideas as to what the heck is causing this?
Either a wire is loose (no so bad) or someone drove a nail through a wire way beck when and it's slowly arcing to the point that this is happening. That's my guess based on similar experience.

ETA- spoke too soon, glad you figured it out.

That doesn't look like any locust I've ever seen. Wood and bark look like Black Cherry to me.

Up to 3/4" rain forecast for tomorrow. Got out just after the dew dried this AM and raked my little heart out. Had to replace one belt on the baler and then went to it. A couple years back I got 13 4x5 foot bales off this field. Today I got either 29 or 30. Tough year to make hay, but there seems to be a lot of it when you can.

Took this shot as I was raking. Looks like crap but it's still got it's leaf! It'll feed out better than snow balls and cold wind this winter.

Agreed. Less lichen on the bark than in Texas but the white sap wood and the bark form are a giveaway. Jon......that's expensive firewood!

Searched for the sizer I use for 32 H&R. No could find the push thru sizer, driving me nuts.

Oops, I used the Star. Time to make a push thru sizer I suppose.

Mrs. smokeywolf's cardiologist ordered tests on her lungs, liver and thyroid, as one of her anti-arrhythmia drugs is known to cause damage to those organs. Good thing he's checking. Found out yesterday that her lungs are showing impairment. Electro-cardio-physicist will chime in next.

Ordered the Lyman case processing unit. Too much military brass need the crimp reamed out. My arthritic hands are complaining.

College boy has to go back to the left-ist coast next week. We're pretty down in the mouth about that. Trying to put together a half dozen EnBloc clips full of M2 ball equivalent loads for him to shoot.
Still want to put some Garand loads together so Winelover can have a go at the Garand. I think that was talked about some 5 or 6 years ago.
