If I can see you it's too close.

Best week of my life was spent in the desert where I knew for certain that there wasn't a single person for at least 15 miles in any direction (closest road) and 25 in most others. It was like....heaven.

I was single at the time, and do still very much enjoy the company I keep when I'm alone.

However....my wife and I made it eight straight years seeing each other at least once every single day, then I broke the streak to go camping with my best friend. Since then we've maintained the every day thing. Same with both my kids.

My wife and I are staying home the only thing we will run short on is half & half for coffee. Good on everything else for the next 2 to 4 months except for the half & half.
Looks like I'll need to grab a mask & latex gloves and make a town run. Probably grab a couple bags of M & M's as well. You know, just the essentials

We live in a town of about 500. Once a day my wife and I jump in the pickup and take a ride in the country, yesterday we went 25-30 miles up in the sandhills and saw one other car on the sand road. I like that about Nebraska.
Our oldest son is a family practice doctor in the western part of the state, I get my weekly scare about this damn thing every Sunday night when he calls.

I have a friend that is a close talker...he is part of our card playing group, and is also a member of my sportsman club...and I use to work with him at a factory.

We've been acquainted 35 years...I say acquainted, because our friendship has had it's ups and downs...he can be a real jackwagon sometimes.
Anyway, when he has a conversation with you, he likes to get right up in your grill. I asked him once why he does that, he says he likes to be able to smell what you've recently had to eat.
After that, every time I knew I'd be in his presence, I'd make sure I have extra raw onions on a hamburger...or some extra garlicky dish..Hey I like onions and garlic anyway. Because, I figure I gotta give him something to smell, right.

These days, I avoid being in his company.

Just talked to my brothers in southern California. Can't for the life of me get them out of that state. I left in 74 realizing if I stayed, I'd be in prison or dead. So I left for Alaska where your hand shake was your bond. Felt like places I grew up. Utah, Colorado, not California.
Anyway Al my Mexican brother just got over phenomena just before Christmas, and Joe my Scottish brother was diagnosed with diabetes. Both pushing 70. Al and Barbra are in the habit of going to the store about every day for one thing or another. So I've been nagging them to stay home. Same with Joe. Well the message finely got through. Al and Barb go on a drive, just like Rex is doing, self quarantining in the car and staying home now and keeping people out. They have lots of beans to get by. Joe has a freezer full of frozen dinners, which is about all he can cook. Both are staying away from all contact with others. Worried about Al, he's a tough Mexican, but he's right on the edge of the desert and the edge of the hoards. Joe is right in the middle of the swamp.
