Some days you just need to throw lead down range!

Brad and I staged a war against pop bottles and a bowling pin the other day. Was a rainy day, and we had an abundance of ammo. Between the two of us, we were shooting 44Sp, 327s, 38S, 357's, a 45 Colt, and a couple of 9MM's. Don't know how many rounds we shot, but probably approaching or maybe surpassing 500. Berm was muddy so no mining, but hope to do so next time out. Was the first time we have shot together in some time. We ran out of targets before we ran out of ammo. Even came home with 50 loaded rounds of 38S. Made me glad that we are casters and reloaders of cast bullets. I am very glad however of those who aren't, but who leave (once fired in particular) brass.

I'm getting to the point I need some trigger time too.
just rolling around a couple of pop bottles or soda can's sound like just the thing to kill a morning before the rain rolls in again.

Been forever since I have had time for any shooting. Too much stuff around the house to do. I have not even been able to post much here.
I need to change that.
Sounds like a fun day Paul!

Gotta keep those rabid commie bottles in check or they'll take over! I've been neglecting my duties too, need to get back to that, and drag my old man out of his house to join me.

We did stop a marauding bowling pin too. Those things take some killing. A Win 92 in 357 mag worka quite well for that duty.

reminds me of the time I was bumming around a canyon out southwest of rock springs and I found a bowling ball.
now this bowling ball had no business back in this little canyon and there was no road anywhere within at least a 1/2 mile.
someone either carried it there or it run away from home and got stuck down there.

I took it and wedged it up in a pockmark in the canyon wall about 100 yds from the end of the lower road into the canyon and shot at that poor thing for 5 years off and on until it finally gave up the ghost.

Many years ago Paul and I shot a bowling ball with rifles muskets and minies. Hung from a bolt driven into it it would spin and swing a little. We decided it wasn't a great idea when we noticed the number of skid marks from minies that hit the rounded face and richocheted into the unknown. That was after it had broken into pieces from numerous impacts.
Damn did we use up some lead with those things. Went thru 600 pounds in a couple years between the two of us. At around 12 per pound it goes quick when shooti 50-75 per week.

Yep, some days a guy just needs to go have fun. Plinking is the ultimate relaxation activity. A former coworker and I referred to a local indoor range we frequented at "The Therapist".

Fiver...any bowling-ball mortar fanatics in Wyoming? I bet more than a few. Could explain the orphaned ball in the middle of nowhere.

While I have lots of clay pigeons we could shoot I try to avoid them. The pieces tend to mimic spent bullets when picking the berm and that bugs me. Why add to my own frustration?

What do you guys like for plinking targets?

I've got a couple of 6" diameter steel gongs suspended by chain that I shoot at. No fuss, no muss.

Will be in the 90's today, and I sweat at 65-70,
but will try to get to the range today and shed
a few pounds of perspiration.

there could be.
judging from the rifles the stores there usually carried I wouldn't be surprised if someone wasn't shoulder firing it.
everyone had a magnum this or an ultra mag that, the 270-300 mag. is considered a 'first timers' rifle so s/he can get used to a little recoil.

Well, reckon I could use the 4th Subaru wheel wifey bent this a.m.?

3 were on her last Sube, this one happened to her this morning.

So,gotta dust off the 3 axis wheel straightener today..... luckily? the rubber was @90% used up.So let's look at the bright side? She didn't wreck the car, I'll snag her a wheel new or used, straighten this one and use as a "real" spare, and new rubber all around.Take the best tyre that's on there now and mount it to the straightened one.

I think she owes me sumthin? Haha

Round 1 done, got it dang close. Will see if eBay guy comes through before proceeding. Did have to grind a new X axis aluminum block so that slowed the process down, and my "best" propane torch head is in the Buick from last weekend's bow shoot so had to use the backup.Gotta bring wheel to 300* and the backup torch head is a little light.Pretty much all safety(straps) guards were in place so was uneventful.

Back to casting and shooting...doh.BW

Yea, got a jug of 40sw that needs exercise. 2 trips to Houston in a week & I need some relaxation time. Rain most of the way & then a crane truck wreck at Palmer on the first trip, today's was uneventful, thankfully. One GS off to UTA, the other to St. Thomas.

It's been a couple months since I've done any shooting, seem like on the days I have some free time it's been stormy and raining cats and dogs all day long.

I have a whole set of test loads for some news cast bullets I've been wanting to shoot across the chrono and do some accuracy test with but just can't seem to get a break. I've just been prepping brass, casting and building up the stash of good know loads but I still need some trigger time bad.

If I were at my old home place I would just raise the garage door and shoot into the back yard.
