Soon to offer blank Lee type sizing dies

Scott finished up the dies on the second operation. He loved the collet, said it was accurate and easy to use, no slippage, etc. We made 5 dies with an 1/8" hole instead of 3/16" for one of the folks that wants to size .177 pellets. Thought I would complete things by posting a video of the final step:

How do you index the die for length in the second step?

The collets are basically a hollow tube with an external thread on the back end that screws into the chuck or other collet holder. There is also an internal thread that is used to screw in a threaded plug for a depth stop. That is what we used here. Scott just screwed the die in until it stopped and then clamped it with the air chuck.

Ok, that explains it.
I use a similar setup for back boring. Mine is a simple 1 1/4” round of 6061 threaded 7/8-14. I use a die lock ring to prevent the die from rotating when cutting. Simple and effective.

Sounds like it would work just fine, especially when you are making one piece. The way we do it takes just as much (maybe more) time for the first piece. Having a positive fixed stop does help the consistency and speed when making multiple identical pieces.

Yes, production vs one of a kind makes for some different needs in setup.
My shop time is essentially free, yours can’t afford to be.

Hobby vs job does matter. A good part of why I don’t make parts for pay.

Okay, I now have these listed in Keith's Korner. I am putting 5 aside for RBHarter that have an 1/8" pilot hole.
