Swift scope

I recently purchased a rifle that came with a Swift scope. I don't know anything about them but it is one of the clearest and brightest I've seen. It was made in Japan. I tried it out this morning at dawn and it was really bright in the early morning low light.

I may have to consider another Swift at a later date.

Many of the 1960's Japanese scopes were made by Kowa, and branded with what ever name the US importer wanted. Lenses were great state of the art pieces, but mechanics not so much. Enjoy your scope!

I don't know the history of Swift but have one made perhaps 15 years ago, it is bottom-level quality.

Don't know who owns the "Swift" trademark now, but they were pretty popular. Yes, a lot of stuff we thought was junk from Japan in the 1960's and early 1970's was good stuff. Importers then moved to Korea, Taiwan and other places to get it made cheaper. Look what happened to Bausch and Lomb. So I look for "made in Japan", not just "Japan", a small character plus a serial number.
