Could be? Never bought one of his pens, didn't need anything "better" than what I already have.

Pretty sure it's automotive air conditioning ester oil. It comes in more than one viscosity. Brad discovered it's use as a sprue plate lube a long time ago, I know that stuff was ISO 100 weigh because that's what we were using to cut the polybutene in an ester two-stroke lube in TnT lube.

Maybe a 32 ISO? I never tried anything thinner. When a guy has a quart of the stuff he uses what he has.

The genius of the pens is that it is ready to go. No messing with q-tips etc. It's one of the best products for casting that's come along in a long time.
It was also an extra expense I didn't need. I have the oil and q-tips on hand, why buy anything else?

Best product to come along in a long time? i think that is a stretch. Now Bullplate, the original sprue plate lube, THAT was a game changer. It made people think about the sprue plate in a different way. It started a discussion and furthered the knowledge base.

Well, I don't mind spending money for convenience's sake. I never used an aluminum mold until I bought my first NOE a couple of years ago. Never used a lube up to that point so when the NOE came with lube I just figured that's how things work for aluminum (and brass). The pen was my game changer. Everyone sees things from their own experiences.

Nothing wrong with convenience. In fact that's why I use Q-tips, I buy them by the 500 pack and use them to clean or lube all manor of things, they are already sitting on the bench and the one I use to lube a mold is pretty insignificant.

Where do you get the pen from? I saw it a while back at that other site.
Are the pens refillable?

No I don't think so,the tip would be about used up by then(just my own opinion) there is a small hole where you might be able to inject oil into it???

Amazon will sell you a refillable three pack or ten pack of refillable pens. I am another that steals q-tips from my wifes operating make up closet.

Yeah, I looked up precision oiler pens, on Amazon. After I posted last comment. Found a verity of different oilers that are refillable. That one could use to lube a mold. I think I'll stay with q-tips for awhile longer.

Or-r-r, you can just do what I have done. Just simply buy lots of molds from suppliers who forward a small bottle with each mold.
