Ben,
It is not an Ackley.
Since I am pushing the envelope anyway, I decided to settle on the 250's moderate virtues at milder velocities.
Thanks for the compliment, it is dressed in some of my more conservative furniture.
I like creativity, tho.

I'll bet that 9mm Luger T/C Contender with its 1-16" twist rate will shoot wonderfully when it gets a bullet it likes. EVERY "accurate" 9mm pistol I have ever fired had a 1-16" to 1-20" twist rate.

Why gunmakers insist upon the 1-10" twists in 9mm pistols--or the 1-38" twists in 44 caliber rifles--is a mystery from the dawn of time. Gotta wonder what the Sam Hill they are thinking about.

Plenty of power there, for certain in the Max. If it is only for punching paper, the Special is
fine, but if you have the intent of hunting big game, the Max should be pretty good. The .30
Herrett in the photo should be good for whatever needs shooting, unless you are hunting
in Africa or Alaska/Canada (moose, great bears).

All of those rounds are 35 cal. bullets. The .357 Herrett requires less trimming than the .30 Herrett.
The 35 Remington is infamous and the Alpo (.358 x 444 imp.) is akin to a JDJ design.
Now that one suits African game!
... never been to the dark continent, but maybe someday.
