My barrel was sent to my gunsmith in Golden, CO
to have a proper throat put in it. Basically zero throat
in the barrel when I received it.

The throating is completed & I received my barrel
today, all my " dummies " I sent the gunsmith fit the barrel fine now.
Now I can shoot those LONG>>>>>bullets ! !

I have the pistol reassembled .

I'm anxious to get the pistol to the range now !
I'm looking forward to this !

I've spent a chunk of change on this pistol.
I hope my investment pays some dividends ? ?

I have all kinds of .30 cal. cast bullets to shoot out of this Super 14.
I decided today to break out an old one that has shot real well in a wide variety of .30 cal. rifles.

The old Lee , SKS , 155 gr. pointed g/c.
I'm sizing .310".

That works very well in an old Savage bolt gun.
It also has a 12 twist . I don't know how fast it is going on 19 gr of H4198 but it is a very soft shooting load and very tight groups .

...or 10.0 of Unique, either one. We ought to call those the "Cliche'" loads.

Both of those loads ( 10.0 grs. of Unique and 16.0 grs. of 2400 ) are amazingly accurate in several different cartridges.

Greetings
Really makes one wonder if TC more than three throats right. Have owned about 10 over the years and every one needed a throat lengthening. Who is going to always shoot the lightest weight bullet made for the caliber ? Happily it is a simple job and does not require extensive labor.

The shipping / insurance to and from my gunsmith cost me more than the labor to throat the barrel.

SR4759 and the RCBS 165 Sil. Bullet got me what I needed. I myself tried the 155 Lee with mediocre success. Of course we know how fickle some guns can be.
The heavy I shot was the old RG4. Forget the load.
Both were MOA at 100 and 200.
I situated bothe of those to finish seating when the action was closed. Pretty snug up against the throat but didn't pull the bullet if you needed to extract a loaded round.

Jeff,

Some good suggestions. Thanks !
I have the old RG4, a super accurate bullet for me, I'll try it.
