Tasco 36x scope repair

There's an outfit called "Ironsight" IIRC that does scope repair. Not cheap.

I googled Ironsight and came up with only video games!
Hmmm, lemme look through my bookmarks.

I had those 3 bookmarked. I think there are some others out there, but I'm primarily a Weaver aficionado. You might try doing a search for "optical instrument repair".

Iron Sight Incorporated works on vintage scopes, I had them repair a big Redfield target scope for my .30-06 bench rifle. I was very happy with their service and the cost was actually quite reasonable. The only real problem is their turn around, they told me when I sent it in that it would take four months or so and their estimate was right on the money. If you want it fast, they probably aren't for you, but their work is good and cost was reasonable.

I'm looking for someone who can repair my 1995 vintage Tasco 36x target scope. HELP!
One thing to consider if you ever think about sending a "Lifetime Warranty" scope back to Tasco is that, from my experience, they DO NOT repair them. They'll very quickly shoot off a brand-new, Chinese scope which is somewhat similar in approximate details. I sent back a World-Class Plus about twenty years ago, or whenever they started importing them from China, and that's what they did - sent me a brand-new junk scope back.

China is capable of making good stuff, but Tasco was not demanding good stuff of them at that time. I actually gave it away. One turret knob sort of clicked, the other didn't click at all and it was less than impressive to look AT or THROUGH.

I've come to feel that (these days) scopes made in the the East CAN be really good, but not necessarily, and that they ARE simply disposable from a cost standpoint. It seems like every year or two, whatever you bought is now obsolete and a new STYLE scope is all the rage, so you'll never get another like the one you bought a couple tears ago.

Yeah, broad-brush proclamation, but you all are smart enough to sort out what's good and what's bad and with whom to trust your money. I have several "older" Japanese scopes that I will likely not get repaired as they eventually start to go downhill. Great scopes, but repairs would likely exceed replacement with something "decent."

Disclaimer: Neither I nor my rifles are up to any level of serious competitive match-shooting, so my opinion may not be relevant to the standards others attempt to maintain regarding their optics.

I do have Leupolds too. I'm not terribly brand-loyal - deferring to whatever fits specific requirement in size and power.

Bit of a drift from the OP's info request but, I found out when shopping for the scope for the AR in 6.5 Grendel that, when you have specific notions on zoom parameters, weight, reticle and price point, choices are surprisingly limited.

Tell me ! God forbid you want a KISS duplex fixed 6x with just horizontal and vertical knobs with maybe 40 mm objective but really 32 would do .
Ten years ago, I custom ordered a Leupold 6X scope, one of, if not the last one, made in US. Delivery time was about 10months, but I will never part with it, not send it in for repairs as they will send a POS back. FWIW

Yupper! KISS type scopes just aren't made anymore it seems. I haunt Ebay and the few local gunshops for used examples. Weaver, Redfield, Lyman and couple others work for me.

Leo has a $300-350 model in 4,6,&8x , I think , just 2 turrets .
Weaver offers one in like 6,8,10,&24x but it's a 3 knob x50 and I think a 30 mm tube I shut down at $6?? .

Just looked at Leupold's web page, and most of there Chinese and Philippine scopes are discontinued.

Well I sent my scope to Iron Sight for examination and possible repair. According to the USPS, they received it yesterday. They said they wil call or send me an email when they've had a look at it. Meantime I shall be patient.
