I had the wonderful experiance 10 days ago of having my computer totally wiped clean. Everything was lost because HP (my computer manufacturer) sent out an update for there units.
I know know what it would have been like for Fred Flinston to talk to George Jetson. My son who naturally has a full time job as a computeranimator and has minimal time in the evening to reboot my computer. has been doing it SLOWLY on the sly at work and in the evenings that he can spare.

That would suck.
We have an external hard drive that backs up overnight every night. Most content is replaceable but we have documents and photos that I would have a hard time replacing.

Every puter crash I've ever had was following a Microsoft upgrade. I get the nervous dribbles every time Bill Gates wants to upgrade my puter.

External hard drives are getting up to around a 15% failure rate over three years. Good idea to back up the back up once in a while, too. I tend to use my older computers for backup and storage.

I have never owned a computer.Have spent umpteen $$$$$ on them for family so feel that gives certain privileges in their condemnation. Condolences to you and HP.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Ben there, done that, got the tee shirt. Tried an external hard drive. Kept pics, downloaded manuals, banking records on it becuase I was running an old, cheap computer. Hard drive died, computer lasted years more! There are companies that will actively copy your computer daily, Carbonite was one. There are others.

I love the convenience the computer age offers...when it works. When it doesn't...not so much.

Then how can you post here? Computer, PC, Mac, laptop, smartphone, all the same thing at this point. They all die.

Porta John folks are showing up....

One year when the middle boys were maybe 8 or 9?(20 years ago),.... they were shooting Black Widow custom 30# takedowns...

I found out, after the fact, they had a bet on who could hit this porta John from about 80 yrds. Oh,they hit it....multiple times.Pretty good shooting all things considered. Only problem was, some poor sap was in it doin his business. Some friends calmed the ole guy down enough that they didn't give us the boot?

Shot a course, now get to watch the flatlanders doing a pretty dang entertaining job of getting their RV's axle deep in mud.

And the airstream guy who's been moving it fwd/bckwd about 6" this way then check it with a level, then move it back where it was 5 minutes ago, rinse repeat.

Bunch of 50K$ 4wd truck's getting stuck too.Just a nice afternoon.
