My failure wasn't as dramatic.
I don't hold a grudge on the matter. The reality is the failure would have appeared shortly after the gun was manufactured had the gun been fired shortly after it was manufactured. Unfortunately for me, the gun was essentially "New, Old Stock" and while 35+ years old, it was unfired.
The problem didn't manifest until long after the gun left the factory.

Update: Since my county is on lock down and National Guard called up, I spent time in the shop yesterday. Those that saw my 3" 32/20 S&W, I took it to the range also last Friday (closed for the duration now). While I had it sighted in, the early 1910ish rear sight was a pain to use. It was made for the knife blade front sight and changing to a 3/32 bead made it hard to keep elevation sight alignment. So took the mill out of winter nap time and opened the rear sight notch. Used a 30 degree V with a 1/16" flat bottom mill. Not a big deal, but I got to spend the afternoon in the shop getting everything is perfect alignment and cutting the notch in 90 seconds. Now to figure out what to kill time with today.

I had a 3” M65 S&W and a newer 44 spl also 3”. Sold both.
Really wanted a WileCAPP 10mm GP 100 but for the nearly 1k price tag.

It’s just RIGHT in size.

Well how about a 24-3 with the 3" long barrel in 44 special?. Loves the Winchester 200 grain silvertip load. Unfortunately due to that virus all ranges around here are closed. So may be awhile before I get to shoot it again. I'm electronically challenged regarding posting pics. Frank

My little model 36 with the two inch barrel has proved to be a reliable performer. Bought it when Louisiana first started issueing concealed carry permits. My other 3" incher is a S&W 24-3 in 44 special with the round butt and combat grips. Cost a bunch but now is worth more than what I originally paid for it. Winchester factory 200 grain silvertips and that revolver make a good pair. Frank
