The 311291 STILL HAS ME SHAKING MY HEAD

Even when the nose runs a bit small ( as it will sometime ), it is usually still a very accurate bullet.

That is some fine shooting ! !

The 308291 was one of the first moulds for gas-checks, about 1906. While designed for 30WCF, they were popular with most .30 caliber rifles, except the Krag. At the first National Military Rifle CBA matches in 2006, I used the 311291 and set a record for 100/200 yard ten shot group aggregate. It is a great 100 yard bullet, but has wind issues at 200 and 300. But none the less, if the wind isn't howling, it will deliver. When I started shooting at Raton and Sioux City, I went to 311284 for the longer ranges.

What about the 311299/314299?
Have ya tried that one?
CW
CW I have the 299 in 311,312,314, GC'D & PB,with noses running from .301 to .304. I had excellent results with them in most of my 30-06's including the Grand, using 29-30 grains of powders in the 4895 burn rate range, 4064, 2520,H335,etc However the amount of lead and powder I was using turned my attention to lighter bullets. One load I continue to use in the .308 is a .312 299 PB with 9.3 grains of Universal, the small amount of powder and lack of a GC,along with the exceptional accuracy makes it hard to ignore

311291 is one of the original Barlow designs (Ideal). These bullets has a fairly long body in relationship to the nose. It is therefore not a true bore rider and will do well, even if the nose is not an exact fit.

Ideal and Lyman has made these molds for a very long time and various cherries have been used. I have about a half dozen two cavity Lyman/Ideal molds for this bullet as well as a couple of four cavity versions. With this variety, I can fine one that is just about optimum for any 30 caliber rifles.

A great bullet.
