The re-discovered joys of Casting...

Hello All

I truly hope that all of Artfulbullet's members and their families are healthy and well during this COVID-19 outbreak! I haven't been on any forums for quite sometime as I have been trying to get a new business venture off the ground... A not so easy undertaking here in South Africa! It just got going and then this...

The few 'good' things to come out of our country's lock-down are;

1. I have been reminded how much I love being in my wife's company!!
2. I have missed out on bullet casting for way too long!!

I dug out my casting equipment three days ago, fired up my old SEACO pot and dropped a couple of Lyman #358429's for my Ruger Blackhawk. It went real slow at first, but was so enjoyable!!! No we have had two and a half days of continuous rain so I have had to postpone my date with the lead pot and mold as I cast outdoors...

Good news is, the weather should clear up tomorrow!!!

Keep well all of you, just wanted to get re-acquainted and let you guys know that I missed being on Artfulbullet!

Rewelcome !
I've had enough rain , I say as another daylighting 2 second flash goes off and rattles the windows , in the midst of a down pour ....... Maybe that should be a down somemore :) .

BrassFerret,

I have to agree with both points. After my re-introductory run with the antique 454190, I have another single cavity, 358416, to load for my wife's S&W Scandium carry revolver. I am thinking 2.5-3.5 grains Bullseye with a light taper crimp ('416 has no crimp groove) for informal target work.

No I just gotta wait for the weather to warm up, Kung Flu restrictions to be lifted, and the latest iteration of panic ammo shortage to ease so I can buy some factory wadcutters to get her a range safety course in Michigan City a little later on.

It's great to have time to get back in the casting and loading business, though.

this is the time of year I start turning away from casting and start looking at doing some shooting.
we get so much off and on again snow/rain/whatever else this time of year it just makes you want to be outside those couple of days a month it is feasible.
