The last two cans of 2400 I bought -- a forgotten number of years ago -- have price stickers of $37.99. Three hours ago UPS delivered the $99.51 4-pounder of 2400 I bought from Midsouth*. Total with shipping, Haz-Mat, and sales tax was $34.69 per pound.

My local friend and occasional shooting pard, and I are happy.

*Thanks, again, Joshua.

him noping you like that means yes he does have ammo, but nope it ain't on the shelf.
I see it over to the sportsmans too, buy a pistol and you can buy 2 boxes of ammo out of the back room.
I kinda wish they done gun trade in's and such there.
I'd buy 5 pistols then sell them all right back to them just to get the 10 boxes of bullets I don't need.
then stand out front and scalp the ammo and go back in for 5 more pistols.
probably break even for the day,, but I'm kind of a dick like that.

The LGS that I do business with does FFL transfers for $25.

I have done several. Mostly, on firearms they could not acquire for me. Even couple of handguns that they couldn't come close to price matching from their suppliers. I received their blessings, because they know I would rather buy from them, if at all possible.

They are at a 10% disadvantage, when they have to compete with internet dealers that offer free shipping and no tax.

It’s hard to support a guy with an attitude like that!

Really? I'll put forth the idea that if he doesn't take care of his customers first there won't be an LGS there to support or not.

I was in the newest gun store in the area last week, the local farm joint. Looking at the display cases with very few guns I asked them if they were getting out of firearm sales, he says no just can't get any guns.

We "had" an ammo store open in town a couple of years ago. Gone now, closed up permanently due to a lack of anything to sell.

So yeah, let's not support a local LGS because he tries to take care of his customers . . . FIRST.

I have done two transfers with my my LGS. I have also purchased one firearm from that shop. They would not have gotten my business if they had been rude to me when I did the first two transfers.

You don’t need to kiss my butt, but as a business owner you shouldn’t point out how you are offended that I just paid you for a service. If you aren’t charging enough for the service then you aren’t a victim, you are a bad businessman. If I pay for a service then I am your customer!

I paid $35 for those transfers. I spoke with the owner one day, I mentioned that his fee was less than other shops in the region, but not the lowest. He said that his fee was enough to keep the lights on and the coffee pot full, that it kept the foot traffic coming in, and that that allowed them to built relationships with new customers.

We all make choices in life. No one forced this gentleman to open a gun shop. If he is resentful at customers, acts like a victim because you use his service, and is rude, then why support him.

And, let us not get started on the condescending gun shop owners/employees that exist out there. If you can’t have a polite conversation. I won’t be coming back. These “experts” are in every hobby based industry, motorcycle shops, bicycle shops, fly fishing shops, and antique shops. Condescending rude “Pros” don’t get my money.

isn't the guy that previously bought a gun from him and now wants to shoot it a customer?

How long will that box of .45 ACP ammo, that RJ seemed willing to buy, sit in the back room till one of "his" customers buys it?

If the guy only sells to "his" customers, how does one go about becoming one of "his" customers?

Who said they were rude? Oh Yeah, Joshua did.

Who said anyone was resentful? Of yeah Joshua did. Who said anyone was acting like a victim? Oh yeah Joshua did. Who said anyone was rude? Oh yeah Joshua did.

All of these comments are about people that you don't know, have never met. None of them are true or even close.

All of these condescending employees you speak of are Bob the owner, his son and his wife. Period, that's all of them. And this shop is far and away the best LGS within a very long drive of here.

Sounds like Joshua has a huge selection of LGS to shop at. Not here, there are a few others but Bob's is hands down the finest in the area. They are great folks, friendly and knowledgeable.

I asked if he had any 45 ACP ammo, he said, "you're not buying your gun from me, so, no".
Did I interpreted this quote incorrectly? Was this statement by the business owner said to an old friend with a laugh. Or, was it said through gritted teeth, with a cold stare. I don’t know.

I ran with the cold stare delivery. Because that is how it read to me.

I choose to frequent businesses that don’t treat me like a hardship. I’d rather pay a bit more for a transfer and be treated politely and fairly in all my purchases.

I’m fine with one box per customer per week rules, because they are applied equally.

Preferred treatment of certain “elite” customers is at the discretion of the owner. I just won’t be frequenting that owner’s business.

Also, if you are holding supply in reserve for a preferred customer, you don’t need to throw that fact into my face. A simple “no” would have been appropriate.

Actually, I didn't take his comment as "rude". I took it as 'matter of fact' and 'up front'. Considering he can't get reloading components, I think it's safe to assume, he's having trouble keeping an inventory of ammo. A year or so ago, before this famine of guns & ammo, when he did the transfer of the MSR in 6.5 Grendel for me, he sold me 2 boxes of cartridges for it.

Just wanted to put out my new boilerplate statement.

The statements expressed by the Joshua are opinions. Joshua has never entered, frequented, or had contact with any firearms retailers in the Great State of Arkansas. All rants and raves made by Joshua that relate to the topic of firearms retailers are solely based on Joshua’s personal experiences in the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Nevada, Virginia, and Montana. Joshua has visited northern Missouri multiple times, but under no circumstances did Joshua ever cross the state border into Arkansas. Joshua doesn’t know Bob, or any of Bob’s family. Joshua at this time does not plan on purchasing firearms or ammunition from Bob. Joshua has recently heard from reliable sources that Bob is a man of fine character. Joshua does not dispute these claims. Joshua values his membership on this forum and should probably stop antagonizing the forum’s moderator. Please be patient with Joshua, he has a long history of being slapped in the mouth by his mother in response to his irreverent and vocal opinions, and may not have learned as a child when to hold his tongue.

heck Josh Rick can take it.
it's just some back and forth opinions.

I just took it as everyone else is hiding ammo in the back room for people buying a gun from them, and he is too.
I don't understand why that has become the thing to do.
if I ever stoop to buying a box of ammo I'm gonna go back to the place I bought it from before, and bypass the place or places that ain't got none, or didn't have any last time.

not my fault I buy stuff in gun shops.

Oddly enough there has been a small amount of powder, primers and 22 rimfire ammo showing up locally in Montana. I don't know if this is stuff that was already in the pipe line before all the panic buying or where it's coming from but it's showing up a in small amounts. It doesn't last long on the shelves but it's been there. I've also seen small amounts of 9mm, 30-06, 10mm, 45 ACP and quite a bit of 223/5.56 as well as a bunch of 41 magnum. It's nothing I would rely on for long term more like it's randomly showing up. There also seems to be a very large amount of 17 MK II rimfire ammo around, why not a clue.
