Needing a nice holster for my new pistol, I looked at all the available holsters online .

They ran from the " el cheap - O " $14 black nylon to over $100 for a nice lined leather holster for my new pistol.

I looked in my " old holster stash box " and found a nice glove leather lined holster for a Large frame , 6" barrel S & W revolver. Knowing me, I picked this one up years ago at a Gun Show, or in a " bargain bin" somewhere for $5 or $10 probably.

As luck would have it, the new Ruger SR 22 .22 auto pistol fit the holster PERFECTLY ! The holster was too long, but that is easily corrected. A bit of work with my band saw, some leather glue, and an adjustment on the retainer strap...........and BINGO, I have me a nice ( FREE ) holster that fits my new auto perfectly.

I feel kind of strange. Never owned a Ruger. I've only owned two pistols that did not say Colt on them.

Interesting handgun. Looks pretty small. I really like my Mark II Ruger 22. If that one is even half as good then you will really enjoy it.

As for Ruger, I own almost nothing else. One Colt, one CZ, rest Ruger except the Contender.

I read a LOT of reviews on the Ruger SR22
Nothing but good things said about the pistol.

I'll be able to tell you soon what it will do and won't do.

That works. Bet you are a few short win a week or two.

Not disparaging Ruger in the least. That is cute as all get out. Anxious to see a little bit of a range report on it.
As an aside, it always scares me to see someone new to firearms handling a 22, as they seem to underestimate just how lethal those little buggers are.

Lots of Ruger standard auto variants here. Never tried that new fangled one.

Please report on the range results.

Too bad they don't make ammo for those any more.. . . . . . . . . . . . or at least it seems like it.

The 22 Long Rifle round has always be a top choice for professional killers. I am talking killers and not gunfighters. The bullet twist and turns in the body creating awful wounds. They are a trauma surgeons nightmare. Some years back El Al Security held off some terrorist with full automatic weapons and RPGs at the airport in Rome. The El Al people carried Beretta 22 LR autopistols.

Everybody should have a packable 22 autopistol. They make fine camp and hiking guns. Here is mine, a 1967 German made Walter PP with a MMC rear sight. There are not easy to come by. I spied in 1994 in a gun shop in Deming New Mexico. I almost broke my arms whipping out the plastic.

When in law enforcement, I carried two backup guns, a Colt DS and one of the little North American stainless 5 shot revolvers in 22 LR.

Sold the last 22lr I had a few months back. Have 1 22 mag but just have no use for rim fires and the ammo drama it's undergone the last couple years. Seriously doubt I'll ever buy another.

Rather pack a 380 or 9mm myself.

Freebullet, I hear ya on your "ammo drama" objections raised above. I could never part with my "fun guns", though--and 22 LR arms are FUN GUNS for me.

This SR-22 Ruger intrigues me, as have several PP-sized 22 rimfire pistols over the years. I will wait patiently for a shooting report from unbiased assessors, a thing I DIDN'T do about 10 years ago when the SIG Mosquitos started buzzing about. It took about 1500 rounds to "break in", and now after 3K+ it has become reliable and tractable, though VERY ammo-sensitive.......as in, CCI or nothing. Having not seen CCI rimfire ammo anywhere near me since early 2011, this cramps range times a bit. I do so love how CCI (and other ammomakers) blame consumers for causing the years-long absence of ammo in retail stores. They likely expect table manners from starving Somalians as well.

Enough of that. I did run about 150 CCI SGBs on ground squirrels this past weekend. The rats were in good numbers, and both the 10/22 and the 22/45 processed the vermin efficiently. I do like that CCI SGB's effect on little critters.
