The current trend of blaming the customers for empty ammo shelves and dry component stocks died some time ago for me, and the odor of its decomposition is rank. The things being left unsaid are the real elephant in the room--that makers did not anticipate the true market growth that has occurred over the past decade, and/or did so and ignored it to continue Business As Usual. To my mind, the longer these shortages endure--the more likely that the latter explanation is the true picture of events. In other words......makers are now treating end users with the same arrogant attitude they formerly reserved for retailers and wholesalers.

A few of you said you'd like to see what the Ruger SR 22 would do at the range ? ?
I fired it with Winchester bulk 22 LR at 12 yards. No malfunctions , here
is a full magazine fired at 12 yards , seems VERY adequate for what I want
from the pistol .

We have " open carry " here in Alabama right now.
I go out and walk about 1.25 miles each day.
There are some bad dogs and questionable characters on my walk that I see from time to time.

I'll put my holster on and position it over my right hip and carry my SR - 22 loaded with Mini - Mag HPs. I should be ready for anything on 2 legs or 4.

Target below was fired today with my Ruger SR-22.
12 yards, a full magazine of 10 rounds.

I also took my Ruger Mark III with my new laser to the range today.
After fine tuning the elevation and windage, I fired a magazine full at 25 yards.
WOW is all I can say.

What is the laser sight? Never saw one like that. Looks like it works in daylight pretty well.

Discussing the .22 shortage with an industry insider (gun/reloading industry - not .22 LR manufacturing) and
he says that the .22 makers are working as hard as they can, but have not been convinced (beyond Remington)
to invest in another very expensive factory to make a round which has a very small profit margin, while they
are struggling to make enough center fire ammo and have no time or staff to put on the issue. Apparently
Remington has been working on a new factory for .22 rimfire. It seems like about 2 yrs ago they announced
a new factory would be coming on line "in two years". Hope it starts up soon.

I think the HUGE numbers of new guns sold have permanently bumped up the ammo consumption rates,
and the makers haven't really expanded - I think they keep telling themselves it is temporary and are unwilling
to put in a new factory that they think may be idled in a year or two. Of course, the knuckle heads posting
pix and videos of their stash of 25,000 rds of .22 LR (for the zombie apocalypse, apparently) aren't helping
to convince the makers that the usage rates are permanently higher so they can justify a new factory. Still,
the new gun sales have been literally MANY millions per year for many years and a lot of those folks SHOOT THEM!
Industry needs to expand. Although, Win was caught dumping their union problems and moving from
Illinois to the south -- Alabama maybe and building a whole new plant. Can't make expansion easier.

In any case, I have a number of different configuration Ruger Standard Autos, started with a 6" regular model
when I was 16 and haven't stopped getting new versions, not sure how many are in the safe. All excellent
shooters and very reliable. I wish I could find any .22 revolver that can shoot that good --- with one exception.
I have a S&W 22/32 "Bekeart" target model (but not in the real Bekeart SN range) that is jewel and super
accurate. All other .22 revolvers are good for "minute of pop can" at 10 yds and not much more, including a
gorgeous "blonde" M17 (just like the K22, 'blonde' - looks great, but can't cook). Grr!

Been eyeing a SP101 in .22 LR, SS with 4" bbl. at the LGS. Anybody know if these are accurate?

Sounds like Pistolero hasn't looked at FA revolvers. Minute of pop cans at 10 yards indeed, much better than that at 100 yards. :D

For the price they better be! I would love an FA revolver but just have a hard time paying that much.

My Mark II Ruger shoots quite well. It isn't a competition handgun by any stretch but for the money it is hard to beat.

I've always felt that Ruger offered a lot of gun for the $.

My Mark III is a nail driver.

Here is my Mark II and it is a competition handgun of the highest order. It has a Douglas barrel with match chamber and all of the other goodies done by
clark in Clark in LouisianaClarkRuger (640x419).jpg ClarkRuger (640x419).jpg . It is a great handgun.

That looks just like my Mark II with a 5.5 inch bull barrel. First handgun I bought.
Mine is all stock. With a 2X scope mine went squirrel hunting more than once.

Once did a head shot on a gray squirrel in Fla with my 6" Ruger std auto with a Bushnell
Phantom scope at about 60 yds. He was on a large live oak limb, silhouetted against the
late PM sun, and holding really still, I'm sure he thought he was invisible up on that 18"
diam limb. Bang - flop. Yahoo!
Great guns, Rugers standard autos and variants. Not a fan of that thief Clark, though.

That last post should have said "All MY other .22 revolvers", was NOT assuming that ALL
.22 revolvers were inaccurate - only the ones I own, with one exception, the 22/32
Target.

Around the block? I prefer a long weekend together with something like that. A very accurate 22 handgun with a red dot, a couple cases of clays, and a few bricks of ammo. Set up at 50 yards and spend a day having fun. Maybe bring the wife along.

My "plinker" ....... Ruger Mk II Target with 6 7/8" barrel. Armson OEG "day-night" red dot for grooved receiver. Front sight of nickel silver (made by me).....hated the standard undercut (gut hook) blade. Aftermarket grips.....forgot the maker and the type of wood. Lou, owner of Trapper Gun and "Bullseye Springs", grooved the receiver.
