Thread choke is killing me

Shot 100 rounds with the Model 25 today. Load was an NOE 255 swc powder coated over 6gr of Red Dot.
Still getting leading which is driving me nuts. Pretty sure it is from thread choke based on where it starts.
Plan is to do a little fire lapping tomorrow with some 320 grit and see what I get. Might just shoot 12 rounds with that and then clean well and wait for another day to shoot for testing.

These are today’s targets fired offhand at 10 and 25 yards. The vertical is largely me? I think?

Why not try Bill's trick of taking the barrel off and facing the shoulder for a snug hand fit, then re-install with a couple drops of medium-strength threadlocker?

That would require more work?
I could make a set of inserts for the action wrench and do it easily enough I suppose. Kinda gets me out of my comfort zone some, I’m not mechanically inclined that way by nature. I suppose this could be a good learning experience.

That's why I'm jabbing ya. Ten Large in tooling there in your garage just waiting on you to develop a larger comfort zone. :)

Besides, you can fix the forcing cone with a boring bar while you have the barrel in the chuck.

Didn't Bill give a pretty thorough explanation of his process? He'd just purchased a S&W and discovered it had thread choke. Seems it was shortly before he signed off.

I believe your father in law warned you about those s&w revolvers. I'd be forced to take the easy way out. Trade for a well used ruger. They shoot pretty good & are easy to tune up.

I've fire lapped all of my S&W revolvers, and I have more than my share.
Eleminated the leading and as a bonus, improves accuracy with every revolver I have tried it on.

Clover brand silicon carbide in grease , 320 grit.
For a Ruger stainless steel gun I will start with 240 grit then finish with 320 grit. Ruger uses some very abrasion resistant stainless steel.

For a blues gun I would start with maybe 12 of the 320 grit then clean really well and check progress.

Are you just rolling bullets between two glass plates with compound to impregnate the bullets?
How fast to you shoot them?

I roll them between steel plates and put a fair amount of pressure on them. Need to embed the grit in the bearing surfaces.
You want airgun type speeds. I like 700-750 FPS. I always shoot at a target or a berm to make sure the bullet exited the bore as the friction is high and charge low.
I like soft bullets. Soft bullets don’t tend to spring back when they go thru a constriction. This means they remove the tight spots rather than just polishing a wavy bore. This also means they can give a slight taper to the bore, loose at Bree hand tight at muzzle.

Bree, breech, whichever. My IPad learned to spell from Ian’s smart phone. At least my revolver isn’t linked to my bowel movement cycle?

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Curious, I suppose the brass used for the lapping would be destined for the scrap bucket after that?

I use Clover because mechanic.

I ditch all brass used for firelapping. It's a good use for very tired brass.

My phone has autocorrect turned OFF, blame the thumbs and lazy proofreading. Actually I have to fix just about every word I try to type so no wonder a few slip through.

Here, I just retyped the whole thing again, not corrected:
