Just the opposite over here. Only seen a few cicadas, in the mornings. However, they sure do make a lot of noise during the daylight hours. Could be they are being eaten, during the night.

Yesterday afternoon, while sitting on the veranda. Cindy took video but I'm unable to post it.
Shooed another one like that out of the road earlier this week.

Cicadas are down here too. Aren't they cyclical, like with long cycles?

I don’t know if it’s the same as frogs falling from the sky.

But, I’ll see your Cicada’s and raise you Murder Hornets!

It seems that these big dangerous bugs are taking up residence here in my fine state, less than a hundred miles from my house.

Apparently in a couple of years they could colonize from Vancouver Canada down to south of Portland Oregon.

Honey Bees have enough problems without a new large predator going after nests.

I won ebay auction. My first and only bid on a Bose Wave radio for my Mom. Auction ended Sunday, I paid Sunday. Monday was a holiday. I got a shipping info "notice" Tuesday. Then silence until today. I got a email notice from FedEx that package was picked up from seller today. Seller is in New Hampshire. I hope it's packed good, because but judging by how this started, I am expecting the worst...LONG bumpy ride, all around the USA and maybe make a pitstop in Puerto Rico.

My Kindle died. Must've been eight or nine years old. Bought a new one. It's shorter and thinner but a bit wider, has non-glare and much brighter outdoors readability, and the battery's charge lasts noticeably longer.
Rather spiffy.

Two months ago, my wife ordered something from the Los Angeles area. It roamed round three different LA area cities for four days, before wandering over to Carson, Nevada, and taking up residence for two days. Its final 300 mile leg from Carson to our house took three days.

it took 2 weeks to get an envelope to Pennsylvania, but only 9 days to get one 1 state over from there.
their packages took all of 3 days for the one and 4 for the other.
so apparently trains go faster when they head west.

Anyone ever had torn stomach muscle? Seems that's what I did a couple of days ago. YIKES, that hurts and of course, it's going to be a long recovery. Stay off my feet for a week or ten days; ice-packs and ibuprofen. Probably 3 months or more for full recovery.

yeah.
don't have a clue how I done it.
it didn't bother me for a couple of days then it hurt again just turning wrong, picking something up, coughing wrong, or sometimes just bending down.

You have my sincerest sympathies for the coming 83,000 hiccups every time you drink anything , that sneeze from the fall grass bloom , any every single vertical transition movement . It's still fresh in my mind .

In my early 20s, I thought I cracked a Rib bone during a struggle in the backseat of a car. I was suppose to go on a downhill skiing trip the next week. The pain was too great and went to a Doc, he said the Rib got dislocated, I never heard of that before, he said it'll heal in time and didn't recommend skiiing, so I canceled the trip. I had pain for many weeks when I moved my chest in such a way.

About 25 years ago when I was running the KraKaDawn out of Valdez my son Talon and I were wrestling on the back deck, we had a great day of fishing and the vessel was set for the next days charter. Well Talon was a very able deck hand no longer a boy and wanting to prove it with the old man. Well I’m fairly stout fellow and Captain as well, can’t let the help best you. Well he managed to throw the both of us against the stern rails. These are Coast Guard approved welded 1 1/2” Aluminum with no give. Talon had maneuvered us where I hit the rail ribs first. The ribs gave, Talon and I both new something happened, me much more then him, but being an enthusiastic young man did not want to quit. So As we were paused against the rail I said “if you don’t release me now I’m going to have to hurt you”. He let go.
Separated 3 ribs and had to keep working the boat as we had booked charters all week.
Talon and I shared duties on the back deck when things got hot and heavy, 3 to 4 fish on at once anywhere from 15 pounds to 200 pounds. Well I had a large fish harpooned and grafted that I was bring in the transom door, both feet planted against the transom bringing her home. Talon came to help when I called out. He gave the fish a wack with the Lewisville Slugger to clam a fish so gear, stuff and people don’t get broken up. I remember laying sweating on the slime covered deck to gather my self. I took a break with a coffee and fortunately for me it slowed some and Talon and the customers could handle it.
My 2 bit enthusiasm had overloaded my 10 cent backside or in this case, ribs.
Yeah separated ribs certainly get your attention.

Sciatica - getin old?
Spreading fertilizer on the yard, in short sessions.
Sciatica has been normal and everyday for me for the last 14 or so years. Ever since I ruptured a disc in the lumbar section. Sciatic nerve bundle that goes down left leg pinched and especially the Peroneal nerve.

Popper, I quite literally, 'feel your pain'.

John, you've had a more eventful life than most. I've had many tell me I should write a book. That may apply to you more than me.

Well Smokey I’ve been pondering that the last couple of years, as a matter of fact Karyn and I are talking about it this morning. Want something smaller and more portable the a laptop but more for writing then a iPad. Shopping this morning. Going outside for the winter so portability is key.
More likely and If nothing else it would be for our Grandkids to get to know different times when things had to be worked for. And what happened when the wrong things are chosen.
