Tikka T3 358 Winchester (JES rebore) range trip

I‘ve been itching to get this rifle back to the range. After all the medical issues worked out I was in the backyard today with the Tikka. I shot some groups with SR4759 and that load is going to take some tweaking as it is stringing the shots out. It shot a 10 shot group that is OK but not good enough. The 5 shot group however surpassed my expectations. I like the MP HP mold and I’m a big fan of 2400 too. I think it will put meat on the table if I do my part. The Tikka’s are smooth good shooting rifles, I’m thinking about on of their new 22’s.

That's a really good bullet. Looks like your shooting didn't get rusty while you were down for a bit.

Awesome shooting Malcom! Nothing wrong with that there.
I'd like to see the SR4759 loads. Big fan of that powder. I think Rick might even have a pound or two of that laying around...

Good shooting!!!
I am hitting the range with mine tomorrow as well!!

I have a ladder of 225 Sierras and some empty cases looking for a CB load for the 230 RD bullet. I might try your load!

Thanks. Yes, I love that bullets and that MP mold cast like a dream but it is a 4 cavity and it is heavy. I made a mold guide that really helps though.

I‘m going to try the 4759 in further test. I like that powder too and I have about 10# of it. I just haven’t hit the sweet spot with it yet. It shoots like a champ in my ‘06. Thanks

Very good results, Malcolm!
I have just recieved the same mould from MP. I will be using it for a .35 Whelen that is «on its way».

Thanks everyone. Since I got this rifle from JES I have become a 358 Winchester “nut.” I have 3 now and thinking about another one. I just love them big ol’ cast bullets.

Have ya tried a 358009?

its a bore rider. I cant use it when PC’d in a few of my 35’s so I bought a Accurate 36-270c mold. I LIKE IT MORE!!!

(Its the BLUE bullet

Red is a NOE 360-232 and Grey is the 358009.06F40535-73FF-4ADE-B759-EFA83E93000F.jpeg

CW; excellent looks PC'd bullets, really like the looks of the 36-270c. I have a Marlin 336 (I bought it new in 1972) that I've been thinking JES could make into a "35" of some sort.

Nice shooting Malcolm! That Accurate 36-270c shoots real well in my 357 Maxi. I can't wait to try it in my 358 Win.

Thanks, Dinny
