To gc or not to gc

If I PC coat my bullets ( gas check style ) I do not GC them any more! I see no need from my Observations on targets

 almost! I just got in from making a couple of arrowheads from some really crunchy chert and have some mean calluses on several fingers. Now to go make a wider front sight for an Italian P53. Y'all get that gas check thing decided yet? Did Walter make a video?

From the Texas sun and heat.

You know what would be awesome? If Walter went to Texas and did a video of a day in the life of Ian.

Better get more camera batteries, it’s gonna be a long day

wait... was i supposed to join in?
or just laugh?

ahh crud.
i've only known him for like 20 years, i can let one go i guess.

I don't envision an ark.
But in an apocalyptic world scenario. I always envisioned him, flying around on a home built multi fuel Gyro Copter. Dropping black powder grenades on would be raiders.
Bet you he has one stashed some where.

This thread swerved more than usual and even faster than normal. Imagine my surprise.

Gas checks......I use fewer of them than I once did (back when they weren't luxury items). They can 'Cover a power of sins' (using Huck Finn's language) if your diameter or alloy isn't up to snuff in a given firearm; the bore will still be leaded, but you'll never know because the check will scrape out most of it. Accuracy will still suffer, though. Once I got a handle on dimensional integrity the alloy fetish diminished apace, also.

Gas checks are still featured whenever velocities edge up past 1300 FPS in either handguns or rifles, though. My default alloy has morphed from good old Taracorp 92/6/2 to 90/6/4 for improved castability in the microband Loverin designs by adding 6 oz. of tin to a 20# pot of 92/62--which I have A LOT OF.
