see,,,, i'll eat croutons usually with Russian or French dressing, and I'm fine with cottage cheese.
hate cheddar with a passion though.
you don't want to be behind me if I'm forced to go through a salad island-bar, unless you just want lettuce with ranch on it, cause i'll probably take most everything else there and pile it up about 8"s high.

I do like salad, but pretty choosy. Best salads were made in the MGM Studio Commissary. Cobb salad was my favorite. Shrimp salad every Friday.

Chef salad is okay. Cole slaw with pulled pork.
I like a little deli meats and some grated cheese in my salads. Don't give me a bowl full of lettuce and tomato and call it a salad.

Ah yes . . . the MGM Studio Commissary, the good old days. Long gone now. Disney had the best commissary by far and was the last of the majors to still run their own. For decades Walt insisted on pricing that only recouped the cost of running it. Could get a good 3=4 course meal in there for around $3-$4. All of the major studios long ago closed their own commissaries and contracted out to run them. Sad. Prices went through the roof and quality/quantity through the floor.

By themselves, both celery and cheeze-wizz are not on my menu. Celery filled with cheeze-wizz is marginally ok. Now, that said, a piece of raw celery is one of the best cures for indigestion I have ever used!

salad

  • 1 : any of various usually cold dishes: such as.
  • a : raw greens (such as lettuce) often combined with other vegetables and toppings and served especially with dressing.
  • b : small pieces of food (such as pasta, meat, fruit, or vegetables) usually mixed with a dressing (such as mayonnaise) or set in gelatin.

I find that most people have wider differences like in salads, exceeded only by sauces.

What is schmaltz?
I come to prefer thighs when cooking Chicken. I always grill or fry thighs without the skin, since there is enough fat in the meat. Sometimes I make crackins with the skin, and sometimes I just throw them out. When I do make the crackins, I always loved the grease for cooking. Then I tried a few different ways to get the fat rendered out of the skins. Using a cast iron pan is messy and easily gets scorched. Once I tried the pressure cooker, I found my joy...and now I ALWAYs render the fat out of the skins. 20 minutes at minimum pressure and no mess...but the rendered skins rarely get to the crackin stage and is usually jumbled up into a glob, so I usually throw that out, I shouldn't eat that anyway. I get about a 1/4 lb of Schmaltz from a family pack of chicken thighs.

One year at a rendezvous my buddy Jimmy had some Beer Kaese cheese. It smelled like a cross between catfish stink bait and aged butt crack. He cut it with my belt knife and it was at least three days before I could get the smell off my blade.

We ate it with dark stout, a black bread, and a German white radish. Thanks God it tasted better than it smelled. I think it is a form of Brick cheese.

Haven't cooked on the grill much this summer because both of us are on a diet to loose the "Covid-weight" but we splurged tonight and cooked some 16 count shrimp ( I like mine cooked shells on) also did some "Himo Togarashi" Japanese chillies from the plants I'm growing & made a semi-hot Thai Sweet Hot dipping sauce! It felt like a decadent meal....but came in at 290 calories! for each of us.

One of my favorite things is a mish mash of northern and southern junk food.
I make Tennessee Mustard Slaw, get it almost Ice cold . Then top a Steaming Nathans all Beef Hot dog with it, on folded over, toasted, sour dough bread.

I didn't eat any of the meat since I had a half order of chicken fried steak for lunch.
probably eat the other half of the 15 dollar subway sandwich I bought yesterday later.

Nothing special tonight: I had a Burger and wife had a Black Forrest Weiner.
Before dampening off the grill I roasted 3 large "Big Jim" chillies ( Hatch Type)
Got to peel those skins before they are eatable.
