I was sizing some bullets with a push thru type sizer and had some fall off the push rod.

This is a first run tool to prevent that. I need to bore the sleeve out a little more so bullets fall in easily. The push rod also could be a little longer.

Slot the punch for a pin so it stays together and the spring can be preloaded a little. Then patent it.

Oh for a metal lathe and 20 yrs younger. But heck, I'd still have a regular job (and her) to contend with.

Now to buy a few 1/16” end mills to cut slots. Excellent idea Ian.

I don’t know that this helps as much with the fat, short bullets like 45 handgun but for stuff like 30 cal, oh yes it will.

Depends on my mood at the time?

I also didn’t know you needed one.

Those of us suffering from lathe deprivation might make a similar arrangement using a suitable bushing, made for bushing sizer dies. The standard push rod might be a bit short, though.

That may not work the same.
The bushing I made has a 2 diameter hole. The lower half is a close sliding fit on the rod while the upper portion is a close fit to unsized bullet diameter. I make my push rods .005 smaller than the final size or smaller so they don’t bind in the die.

The sample I made needs the upper portion recut another .002 larger
