Took my Shooting Buddy Joe to the range yesterday!

Some you may remember that my friend Joe Gifford went to the ER on October 8th. They did CPR on him for 45 minutes on the way, he was on a ventilator for 23 days and was released from rehab on the December 1st. Took him to the range and got him to the pistol line in his walker and let him shoot for about 45 minutes. Poor guy has had health problems all of his life since he had polio at age eight. But he has a good attitude and tough and determined to get to shooting in the spring at least from the bench and at the pistol line.

Good for you and Joe.
I had a good friend who had lung cancer and most of a lung removed. He was easy to identify at the cowboy action matches because he was the one with an oxygen generator on his back.

Thank you for your responses, I am forwarding this to Joe. My Daddy always said "If you want friends, you have to be a friend."

I feel bad now, I somehow missed your original posts about Joe. I had sent him one of two emails over this period without response and now I see why. We keep in loose contact, and an occasional missed email between up isn't terribly unusual.

Joe is my original internet cast bullet mentor, we "met" in the old "America Online" days and he is the one who helped me find sites like "Shooters.com", and the famous cast bullet forum there, as you probably know, brought together the original group that eventually founded the "Cast Boolets" site. Joe also patiently answered my newbie questions, often several times before the information finally sunk into my somewhat thick head.

I gotta go now, I have an email to send off.

I'll check on Lee 311-185s that I would be glad to donate. Hmmm . . . might have some brass, too.

Having a father in a similar situation I can assure you the range time was therapeutic for both of you.

Been a long road thus far Rick and we still have a ways to go. Looks like we may be turning a corner in the past week and heading in the right direction.
Sure has put a crimp in my desire to do much casting or shooting. Has made me realize how much it helps to have a great wife.
