In two weeks a group of codgers that I have been shooting with for a number of years will congregate in Colorado for 3 days of P-Dog Shooting. Three old Cols., me, and a couple of civilians been at this now for many years. Have for a number of years taken up to 4 rifles. 22 Hornet, 223, 22-250, and 243, for shooting at ranges from 50 yds out to about 600 (which is my limit). Then a few years back I started leaving the 243 back, and only had 3 to carry and shoot. Am getting tired of lugging even 3, so this year, am cutting back to just 223 & 22-250. They will handle all my needs I believe, as I got my 500 yd certificate a few years back with the 22-250. Obviously, I am shooting jacketed. However, I will take a few cast for the 223, to shoot first thing in the a.m. on dogs out to possibly 125, without changing scope setting. There is just something about shooting p-dogs with cast that is a real kick in the tail. They don't blow up the dogs, they are deadly at reasonable ranges. by about 9:30 or so it is back to jacketed and blowing up dogs. Will usually take about
