When you encounter the double cannelured brass for sale what's it usually go for? Like Peters, REM UMC, Western. Figuring new Starline is .14 a piece so maybe half that? Thanks.

I ain't seen once fired 357/38 brass in a long time, jezuz maybe 15 years back I run across a bunch of 38 special milsurp stuff and snagged all they had for like 5-6 cents each.

you'd have to go to like brass man brass or the like and see what they want.
I pretty much gave up on buying 1 fired pistol brass and just order what I want from star line.

Occasionally I see boxes of Peters Police Match rustless with double cannalure, or sometimes the Remington UMC Targetmaster. Just wondering how much on typically gives if they come across it. Looked on Gun Broker at completed auctions and they didn't have any.

10-15 cents would be a good deal on 1F range pickups. .20 if all the same headstamp and apparent lot.

Like Fiver I grabbed a couple thousand military .38s a number of years ago for about the same price he did and those never seem to wear out. I bagged a thousand 1F R-P wadcutter cases through a want ad for $100 about the same time just to have them (they won't be around forever). Brassman, Monmouth, or want ads from repeat sellers on internet BBs would be where I'd look.

38's are becoming rare ain't they.
I remember seeing drums full of them for less than 2 cents each, and they would go down to 1 cent if you bought enough of them.
you'd think with a case you can get like 50 loads out of the stuff would be everywhere.
sad to think most of it is probably sitting in basements or sheds, and I'd hate to think how much of it just got hauled to the scrap yard.

While I hadn't bought any 38spl for a while, and didn't really need any, a month ago, someone posted on the other website "Brass by the pound"
I snagged this... "1 MFR box of 38 Special brass 15 pounds $35 shipped" It looks like some good stuff...I haven't sorted it yet.

32 years ago, my shop added the 45 ACP and 9mm to the schedule of approved calibers. I didn't think at the time that I would live to see the 38 Special being referred to as "scarce" or "hard to find". Well, here we are.

makes you wonder don't it.
I pick up 223, 45, 40 and 9mm brass every time I see it just because I think one of them will be in the same place in the future [my money is on the 40 for sure, and the way the rumors are flying it could be the 223 in a few more years.]

A friend shoots a fair amount of .38 Special, so I gave him 400 cases, thinking I'd never need them. A few months later I bought the .38 Special Uberti 1866. Ian turned me onto a friend of his, and I bought 300+ from him.

Earlier this year, I gave away 300 combined .223 and 5.56 once-fired cases, not having an interest in the caliber. Next year I'd like to buy a .223 bolt action . . .

Lesson learned.

I see 38s all the time here at the range. Depending on how I feel is whether I pick them up or not. Heck the last ones I sold over at the other site I had to drop them to 4.5 cents each before anyone wanted them. 45acp has to be 4 cents or no one wants it.

I think I have about 100 downstairs right now.

I don't know how much 38 I have it's 357 that's like hens teeth .
I don't have 5 gallon buckets or anything but probably 15-20/1 would be a fair guess . I probably don't have #10 veggie can of 357 empties but I can't search brass without moving a bag of 38s .

I have found there is no need for wadcutter 357 brass. Factor brass of all makes have sufficiently long parallel sides for solid base wadcutters. I never tried hollow base wadcutter in 357 brass.

I did check Starline and RP that I have with expandable hole gauges, my findings agree with this, plenty of room deep into the case before a taper, smaller diameter.
