Lee 125 RF for the .38s and MP penta HPs for the .357s because they go where the sights line up. I like to keep it simple.

got a couple LEE molds out today.
about 200 358-200 [RCBS copies] and around 600 or so 44-200 rnfp's, took a little work to get the 44 mold going but nothing major.
it likes to be run pretty hot.
i had the alloy temp down to about 650 and settled into the same rhythm my 45-70 mold likes to be run at.
i'll throw the calipers on the 44's and probably powder coat them for the 44-40.

Not casting but going thru me bullets and ingots.
I have about 40 lb of Msc. bullets.. Mostly pistol. That I never got any where with, some samples people sent, that just did not pan out in my guns. Others just left over from past calibers.

Then I found about the same weight in Ingot that I never marked.
Plus about 10 lb of dross and clean up.
Left over from various pours. Probably all different alloys.
Trying to figure out how I want to deal with it.
Maybe just mix it all together. Then figure out what I want to do after a hardness test.
Worst to worst I can just water it down with pure and shoot it in the Taurus .357, It eats anything.

Mix it all together and shoot it up in handguns and never even test hardness.

I decided to cast some 300gr. Ranch Dog's for my 45/70 Guide gun. I have been hunting with 300gr. Remington HP's. They did a good job on deer but are currently out of print. Cast is more fitting for the 45/70 anyway.

Rick H those look pretty good to me. Nice flat nose, should punch a good size hole in about anything.

If I can get them to stay inside of 2 1/2" at 100yds. I will use them. I have a cast 385gr. load that works but at 1800fps is no fun to shoot. I'm hoping this 300 gr (actual 310gr with my alloy) at 1650-1700fps will replace my Jacketed load for Michigan sized critters. If I was up your way I would keep the 385's and ignore the recoil.

I need ta cast some 454424's 45-270's and some LEE 375/250's.

Its 13/14° here and gonna be 4/5° for a high tomorrow. So next week is probably closest Ill get to being able to cast. Its supposed to be almost 50. But getting close to my surgery on Thursday by time it gets warm enough.

Whipped up a bunch of rcbs 30-180-fn for some 30cals, and did my first casting with a lee TL 452-230 tc 6 cav... needs a couple more scrubbing & casting cycles before it'll be very happy.

My casting area has recently resurfaced from the snow. Today, I finally got to try my Christmas present!
The MP .32acp mould is made in .312 and .314, nominal weight with large HP is 67 grs. I believe this might be the lightest .30- cal bullet out there, except maybe a RB?
Mine is a .312, and I intend to try it as a plinker in my .30-cal rifles. A bullet like this could be useful, if minimum penetration is required.
I also cast some more NOE .309-177 PB, this is shooting very well in my Howa .308.

It finally warmed up to just above freezing and a light breeze here in central MN, so was able to cast in the shed today with the garage door open.

Replenished my supply of Accurate 31-100H and broke in a new MP mold, 98 gr DEWC .314. These will be used in my K-Frame 32 H&R and the used but new-to-me Freedom Arms 97 that should be arriving at the LGS Friday.

Am I the only one that does not like the Lee-style 3rd handle for cutting the sprue? I really prefer to use a rawhide mallet to cut the sprue, but the 98 gr DEWC was only available in this style mold when I ordered.

It will be interesting to compare the MP 98 gr DEWC accuracy with the Accurate 31-095L.

not a fan either.
luckily i only have one mold made on a 6 cavity mold blank.

lot of guys tend to keep their thumb on that third handle which will slightly hold the mold open on the close end.
