that lee is one on my list to do.
my 44-40 shoots a 240 just fine and i have plenty of those on hand, so no hurry, but i kinda want to go with a traditional weight since i also have the 44 mag version.

I have the 2c 429-200 that drops at 215-217 gr. Works great in 44-40s/I drop .5 gr off the std 200 grn load for the 217s. . (all my 44-40s will shoot a .430-.431). I cast with the new 6c 429-200 yesterday. It dropped a nominal 208 gr. (My alloy is WW + 2% tin). While I like a 6c, I am probably going to stay with the 2c, as it casts easier. I struggled to keep the 6c at a working temp AND get fill out on all 6 cavities. Been awhile/may just need to get in more practice...

I have yet to try 240 grain bullets in either of my 44/40s. That 1-38" twist might work with 240s running 1800 FPS in a Marlin 94, but at 800-900 in my 1897-made Win '73 I have my doubts. That 1-38" twist was meant for 200-217 grain bullets running 100-1250 FPS. My 44/40s dote upon SAECO #446--200 grain FN with crimp groove and enough lube capacity for smokeless loadings.

the trick to the 6 cav's is to start them out as single or double cavity, and add in a cavity at a time till you got all 6 warmed up.
then you swap filling from front to back, to back to front, about every third or fourth run.

Yesterday, I seriously thought about casting another small batch of Lyman 311284s -- and putting a gleeful strain on the state's grossly inadequate electrical grid system -- but the garage was too hot and stuffy.

Ok, I edited it again back to its original intent.

I also posted in the staff forum about this. Ben, are you listening?

Cooler yesterday -- 79 instead of 89 the two previously days -- so cast another batch of 311284s.

Need to make some bullets for the .357.
Just trying to figure out what mould to use.
I have 3 different moulds in that size.
Unfortunately all the previous loads for the 66 have been from gifted and purchased bullets.
