Waht did you cast today?

Well a little while ago. Fiver had gifted me a slightly used or maybe even unused pistol mould.
A Lee .356-120 TC 2 Cavity.
To add to my .35 caliber mould collection. (I collect unwanted moulds between . 355 and 359.)
Have had it laying by my pot for a couple months now. A couple weeks ago I set aside some bullets to be remelted, along with the some ingots.
Well today decided to get about 16 lb of lead melted in it, and actually got done what I planning.
So I decided to just have a nice little basic casting session. To try out the new mold. No hot plate, no temperature sensor, no PID.
Just going by my instinct. Well about four fills of the cavities, and we were underway. Had to keep turning it down because I did not fill while going just cast from full to empty. Run till I would almost get the frosting. Here are my results.Screenshot_20251201-220216~2.jpg
I'm going to try some cast from 358-311 tomorrow and then we'll be getting into a powder coating session next week. I'm hoping to use these ones on either a heavy 380 load or a light 9 mm load. With that surplus discontinued H- "Sport Pistol"powder I bought. There is a load for that bullet on the "Sport Pistol" load sheet for the 9mm, the 380, and the 38 special.
Nice casting mould they fall right out. But The handle is slightly bent or the machining where it mounts is crooked. So you kinda have to wiggle it closed. So I'll have to figure that out. But we made it through a pot. Calling it success!

Used RCBS mold came in Tuesday, 279-250. 250 is a misnomer, wanted it to replace the Lee 250gr. Ends up a 270ishgr bullet.
They're decent looking but heavier than I was wanting. For the price I was expecting a mold to replace the 250gr Lee. Lee's molds always give me problems. Really nice mold but 268gr isn't saving me any lead.
Accurate 175gr mold ordered still waiting for a shipment notice.

The nominal weight for RCBS- moulds is calibrated for the use of linotype. Bullets cast from alloys with less "vitamins" are typically heavier.
Lyman moulds are calibrated for the use of 90/5/5, and bullets cast with wheelweights (or similar) are also usually heavier than nominal weight.

there is a 375 mold out there that weighs about 230grs.
it was designed to mimic the 375 super mag's bullets,,, probably an Accurate mold.
