Wandering base

Yep.

I had filed the bead and top of my Henry's front sight blade to make it work with the rear aperture sight, but the thick sides and large radius of the remaining blade filled too much of the aperture window and made elevation alignment a real bear. Solution? Clamp barrel in milling vise level, install a 1/2" ball nose end mill, re-contour the sides of the blade, and blend the radius into the base. Touched the sharp edges with some sandpaper, a little heat and Oxpho Blue, and she's all fixed.
