Warm sox

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Bill, that pretty much what we call a trooper hat up here. On the job, we called them "Elmer Fudds". The real old ones from back on the horseback days were Beaver. The newer ones were polywool and cloth and not worth a hoot. They did try a Lambs wool model back in the 90's but they only had a few and gave them to guys that had 25 plus years on. They didn't place another order. My problem with them is there's no bill to keep the sun out of your face. I have enough problems with skin cancer already. But I do imagine they're really warm.

You know your boots and you know your tolerance for cold. When you know you will be pushing the limits of your boots for the temperature, say ice fishing or cold tree stand, you can add a little insulation to your boots. Save a few styrofoam meat trays like your meat comes on at the store. Trace your foot on them, cut out with scissors, slip into boots as an additional innersole. They only last a day but will make a surprising difference in comfort when it's too cold for your gear.
