So, I came home and fired up the lead pot!!

I had a new to me 8mm mold from S mac to try and USPS tracking said a lost package of molds was going to be delivered too!!

This alloy is unknown, a friend gave me 1000 .430 225 bullets that where junk. Looked like someones culls. But why they troubled with sizing lubing and gas checking... anyhow, they are pretty hard

I cut them with some of my WW alloy plus a lil tin cause it wasnt flowing well. Was a full 20# pot.

Other molds are a LBT 360-220 and a LEE 454-255 and a unknown weird lil bullet. No numbers on mold but its a lee 6 cav block.

The 8mm mold casts very nice but I found pressure filling produced PERFECT bullets every time!! SO I have two piles of 1-150 bullets each. Reg fill with dime puddle and pressure fill.

The 6 cav 454 cast perfectly right outta the gate and appears a copy of my fav 454424 Lyman. Meplat is slightly convex where the lyman is flat. But it is a nice bullet.

The LBT is quite similar to the RCBS 358-200 maybe a larger meplat. It also cast very well with only a few culls untill it was up to temp.

My last was this lil TC looking bullet with a single excessively deep lube groove. VERY difficult to get bullets to drop and first mold was all but impossible soI left the bullet in there and cast with other five cavities. Bullets drop with difficulty. My mallet wont last long on this mold. It appears to be a 35 cal but I haven’t checked it yet.

Here is some pics.

The mystery mold seems to have lead a rough life. Bullets stick badly and there surface is quite rough. I need to give the mold a closer look.

Thanks Spindrift!! Yup its a Ideal mold 323470

Me too S mac!! Im a suker for a LBT 35 caliber.

Someone over on CBF said he remembers a group buy and said it was intended as a 380/36cal BP bullet. Hence that deep grease groove.

Do not know buy seems plausible

Hahaha. Nope generally mine go good after 1-10 pours. I pre heat on top of pot. And flush out with brake cleaner. If its a REAL problem mold or I get too much oil on face so bleeders are clogged. Ill flush and brush off the flush again then dip corner of mold in lead few seconds. That Super heat generally burns off problems.

I only wanted a few so I can measure and weigh. Before wasting time and energy. I cast regularly so I just put mold back in “rotation”. ;)
