Weaver N mount for Marlin 39a

Hey folks,

I have an older 39a (born in '47), which has the drilled and tapped barrel as well as a slightly bubba'd D&T job on top of the receiver for a conventional top mount.

My understanding is the "N" mount is the right one for this barrel d&t. I have a crisp & clean Weaver C6 scope I want to mount on it. Anyone have any experience or is familiar with the N mounts??? My understanding is a N2 or N3 is the correct model for this rifle. I already have a query on Marlin Owners.

Thanks!!!

One of my 39a's came with the n2 & weaver on it. Drilled & taped on the barrel.
I don't remember how high it was.
The n3 is on the left. You can see it would position the scope a touch higher. 1597803754390749663299.jpgthat's about the extent of my knowledge on them for the 39a.
I can dig the rifle out & do some measuring if it would help.

Thank you!!! My big concern is making sure the C6 has enough clearance for the bell. When you have time, I would appreciate it!! Thanks again!!

Andy, I'm not sure what the diameter of the C6 bell is.
I got this to stay in place long enough to take a pic.
(Note: there is a story behind the two wood screws holding it in place. Not my doing:eek:)

This is a J2.5, The bell is 1 inch dia.
There is about .170 clearance. Which is a good height.
Looks like the n3 is about .200 taller.
