Never heard of "jet fuel coffee", but can tell you how to make "cowboy coffee". Put a pot of water on the fire. When it comes to a boil add a pound of grounds. Simmer for 20 minutes, then drop a horseshoe in. If the horseshoe sinks, add more coffee.

I've done the cowboy coffee many times, it is excellent stuff when in the mountains.

Todd - I am envious of you and your family! I know my wife and five boys would have been all in on this back when (they range in age from 20-32 now - lol!)! Wish you and your family THE VERY BEST!

Looked a few miles north of Zillah on Google Earth. Whole lotta orchards, it looks like. Are those all
apples or other trees, too.

Looks like fine country. About 3 miles north turns from orchards to bare land, looks like.

Best wishes on your adventure, sir.

All around Zillah, in fact all over the yakima valley is orchards. Mostly apple and cherry, but lots of pears and some apricots. Also a lot of vineyards and wineries. Hops and row crops scattered throughout.

At 3 miles it does turn to virgin dryland, it's the Rattlesnake Hills. I don't know if they are called that on any map. Then north of the hills it turns to agriculture again up around Moxee.

The kids had a BALL playing in the mud kitchen and kiddie swimming pool yesterday. I think they are gonna love it. Lots of yard trees, and grass to keep them happy.

Todd,

That is a great leap out into the country.
Did you head north towards the landfill??
I have relatives that live out that way it is nice and peaceful.
They are on the edges of the orchards.
That is some beautiful area out that way.
Good luck!
Are you guys going to build from scratch?

Yesterday afternoon I finally finished the sewer tie-in for the RV, and then decided to wire in the RV power direct to the panel instead of having a plug. For some reason I was under the impression that 30 amp RV was 220 V. So I wired it up to the double pole breaker, and promptly blew the breaker in the RV. No problem I'll just reset it. Tripped it again, so I got online to do a little digging. Found out 30 amp RV's are 120 V. Redid the wire at the panel to a single pole, flip the breaker and the GFI outlet at the kitchen sink was buzzing loudly. Tried it a few times with no luck, just buzzing. Finally I left the breaker at the RV on with the GFI buzzing, after about two seconds and it popped and quit. Went inside, looked for smoke, sniffed around, but only a very slight smell of electrical burnt. No smoke. Obviously the GFI outlet does not work now. Everything in the camper works including lights, water heater, air-conditioning, except for the majority of the plugs in the main cabin and the 2 outside plugs. Also a couple plugs in the bedroom do not work. I did not have time to dig further, but is it possible that I fried that many outlets? 9 outlets in total do not work. 4 still do. Two in the bedroom work and two under the entertainment center work. Or, would there be a master reset button for those at the power center, or inverter?
Any insight?

Max we are roughly a mile south of the landfill. Our land had a double wide trailer on it. It was sold before we bought the land. So we have a existing septic, community well, established fruit trees, shade trees, walnut trees, and irrigated pasture. Whole property is fenced in. We are starting from scratch on the house, but the infrastructure is there.

We used to live a mile off the county road. Only one house in sight from ours we used to live a mile off the county road. Only one house in sight from ours. Now we have neighbors all around on 5 acre parcel's. But the land is not flat, it's varied enough that only a couple-3 houses are visible.

Probably didn't fry all the outlets.
They may all be on a string after the GFI, using the GFI to protect all the other outlets.
Our three bathrooms outlets are all on one circuit. We have a GFI in the breaker box. If my wife's "turbo model, flame thrower, hair dryer" trips the GFI breaker, all of the outlets in all of the bathrooms go out.
Try bypassing the GFI, just to see if that fixes them. If so, you can repair the GFI and your good to go.

Todd,

Have you located the GFI outlet(s) that have the test and reset buttons, and reset it/them? Most likely it's the bathroom outlet.

Our GFI breaker is from the 1980s and they don't make them anymore.
A "used " one costs about $135.00 to $150.00, depending on who has one.
You can just replace the first outlet in the string with a GFI outlet, and it will protect the entire sting of outlets
