I just want to know why Walter is dreaming of you?

I passed on a 35 Rem a few years back and still regret it. Now I don't look because of the scarce nature of the brass.

I've seen a few pretty good looking Marlin Lever's in .35 Rem. in local gun shops.
Like you Brad, the brass is the problem. What good is the rifle if you can not locate brass at a reasonable price ?

Reloder 7 is great for all the medium .30-45 calibers.

Midway USA has had Hornady .35 Remington brass for months and months. In typical fashion, they had it on sale for 39.99 since about September and now it's off sale, regular price of 34.99. I've made a little bit of it from resized .308 Winchester in a pinch by chucking it in a drill press, filing the rim down to about .455", then whanging it through a .457" Lee push-through die and then through a .454" die, then FL sizing in a .35 Rem die, trimming to length, and turning the neck. Five or six years ago when it was unobtainium, Beagle PM'd me and very kindly volunteered 200 1F cases for dirt cheap. It was one of those cases that I used to take this deer.

I picked up some of the Hornady brass at MidwayUSA awhile back. When I first picked up my CVA Scout II I had Grumpa make me some from LC 308 brass. My original brass is reserved for my Contender.

May need to try Reloader 7 if I ever get a replacement mold from LEE. 35-200RF.

I have had some great luck getting brass. and can still get factory and reuse the brass. I currently have a Marlin in 35, and a Rem Mdl 14 - which needs to eat factory RN. And have another Rem Mdl 141 in 35 on the way shortly. I like the guns AND the caliber! And I am set for brass. so no complaints here!

Agree with Ian on RL 7 in 30-45 espec for cast. I snagged 3 lbs when I found it for just that purpose. And also trying it in my 222 Rem with 50 grn Jackets. It is a sleeper powder imo - espec for cast in levers

Just recently I found 6 boxes of Remington 150gr factory loads cheap and snagged em just in case.

I get in mass panic mode when the larder is down to three pounds of Reloder 7. I use it almost exclusively for 30-30, 300 Blackout, hot/heavy .45 Colt carbine loads, 45/90, and even in .223. Looks like I'll be stuffing a few more .35 Remington cases with it, too.

I am also a fan of RL 7 in .35 Rem. and .222. Very flexible powder.

BTW, if you guys are short .35 brass I have some new WW I have too much of.

Good job!

Hopefully, he got all of the hind's bred before you got to him.

It was my job to see that he didn't. The herd (about 65 head) already has more than twice the needed trophy stags filling the prime-age spectrum to take care of business, and several other young spikes that were much better than this one to fill their hooves one day, so this one got culled. I was happy for free meat and the ranch owner/manager was happy for me to do the work for him per his instructions.

Very well done!

The flu is robbing me of the last week of my deer season.:(

Very nice, Ian.
You do the butchering or have it done? Was wondering how many pounds he will yield.

I think Timber would consume most of that in about a month.

Ian - if you don't mind, pls pm me load recommendations for RL-7 in 300 BO (110-130 grn) and 223 (55-65 grn). Thanx!

I only load subsonic, heavy, cast bullets in the BLK and 77-grain cast in the .223, so I don't have any useful info for you on that. Supersonic BLK seems to really like H110 and Nosler has some great data for that, as does the AAC website. Use starting jacketed data for the .223 with the middleweight cast bullets.
