So, I went to the range again yesterday (Tuesday).
The Sun was out, it was 42º, and a light breeze.
Dang near Tee shirt weather for January in MN.
Shooting ammo all from same batch.
a load of Unique pushing a Lee 452-230-TC that was tumbled with 45-45-10, sized to .452,
them tumbled a second time with BLL.
The bullets were hitting where I was aiming. I couldn't have been happier.
After shooting about 120 rds, I noticed a large quantity of tiny black specs
in front of me, in the fresh snow (smokeless powder kernels).
Sometimes, I am able to recover some bullets, some days not so much.
Shooting into the wooden pistol pit backstop, some days, she lets loose
of a bunch of lead, some days she holds on to them.
TODAY, I recovered about a soup can full. Some were still warm.
I noticed some had some voids in the base. All shown (but one) were from today's shooting
the other was a SWC. I swear I cull every bullet I see with a void in the base.
Can I assume I these were hidden voids? Is my sorting/culling ability lacking?
4 of those was from today's shooting of 120 rds...that's some crappy percentages.
BUT, I was happy enough with the targets, so I guess it doesn't matter?

I added this view, as I wanted to show the side nearest the void, looking for gas escape holes. I didn't see any, but took
the photo, cuz sometimes you can see more with a digital photo, than the eye.
