Right now, zero plans on cast in this one.

Have plenty of 4350 both H & IMR. I will try both!!

I id a little stock work on the wrist and wanted to repair a bubba work installing a second sling stud.
The enscussion came right out. So that was easy. PO drilled it off center and it was simply unsightly. I liked the idea so after installing a Harris pod, I saw room to move it forward. I measured and drilled and got that complete. Then took ta filling the bad hole.
The wrist on most rifles dont usually fit my large thicker hands well. This fiberglass worked easily and feels far better now.
Then I addressed the barrel channel. The new barrel has a .750 straight profile. So altho I need to have barrel In hand to fit... I needed to remove the epoxy pad at the tip and dress the JB weld used to fill the bad hole.

After removing the pad at the tip, I exposed some voids in the glass. JB filled them nicely too.

This morning everything was good and hard. (24 hrs later). I sanded and smoothed repairs. Looks like I have a pin hole remaining on outside (of coarse) but as I need to do more Ill fix it later. Actually paint alone will likely cover it.

In anticipation of my barreled action Im gonna pull the stock out and decide, if I want to drill for pillars. Its all in my head, I know. These are larger pillars then I usually choose and this stocks dims have that larger diameter... Meaningful. In the back, behind trigger I believe the outside dia is larger then the outside dimmof the bottom Metal. I guess bedding the bottom metal after could "fix" that.

I grabbed a second pkg of Marine tex to be sure I had enough for bedding.

Im wanting to pillar before glass bed.

I was able to make the pillars

And drill the stock...

It was a challenge... These Weatherby stocks have all kinds a irregularities. They simply wont sit flat at all. I have to shim, shim, shim to get quill square and true to the action holes.

Im ready for epoxy once the action arrives.

Its popped right out. Single issue was allotts epoxy inside front pillar. A hand turned drill bit cleaned it right out.

So I started adding puddy.

Then I sprayed a couple coats of release agent.
Then mixed up bedding compound and applied it generously.... said a prayer... Dropped the action in!

Now I wait...

I assume you pulled it down and torqued the screws to spec since the pillars are already bedded?

Action screws in stock?

Yup, rock solid turn to a stop then about 1/4 turn to a hard stop. (After clean up)

Got nervous cause they WAS flex first time!! But it was epoxy inside the pillars. Cleaned that out with hand turned bit and it was rock solid.

Im not at all Concerned with exterior of stock. Im gonna sand all and re finish last.
Picked up couple new "colors" today.

I stopped to pick up 1/4x28 bolts for action pins. But action bolts aint 1/4/28.... They must be a real close metric size. The 1/4/28 nuts thread on bolts. But 1/4/28 bolts will not thread into action!!!!

SO.... I was forced to use stock bolts...

My vote was for a $15 spraybomb camo job, but that works too. I don't do rumble, did you rattle can it or is that some sort of urethane?

can't tell if it's brown or black or brown on black.

the rifle i done for the SIL in the pebble stone paint is still holding up pretty well considering where it's been the last few years.
