That Savage 340 bolt gun in 30-30 in the back of the safe is a fun little cast gun too. For $159 you can’t go wrong. :p

I have a ruger ranch in 7.62x39 that is a fun little gun to shoot and quite accurate. It has never seen a copper bullet in my hands.
I do not have a current pic and am away from the house.
All my pistols get love with cast and get used as often as my schedule allows in rotation so they do not feel left out.
Now that we are in the snowy muddy season it’s revolver time that way I don’t loose my brass ;)

No pictures to post, though will later, however my favorite is the .45-70 rolling block. Pedersoli made receiver, Navy Arms added a 30" half-octagon half-round bull barrel, plain-Jane stock, brass trigger guard, butt plate, button, and barrel band. At some point in time, a no-name tang sight was added and I installed a Lyman 17 A front sight.
With Lyman's 405-grain 457193 and a dose of Unique, for 1200+ fps, it's an all day shooter. Did find that a near maximum amount of Varget gave 1600+ fps but no better accuracy, and a rather large amount of punishment I can shoot an honest MOA out to 100-yards, just have to wait till the massive floater drifts to one side or the other, then re-focus. At 50-yards, I need an 8" bull and 12" at 100-yards.

Regarding a Savage 340: Owned one in .30-30 for a few weeks after paying $199. I tried to cure a feeding and ejection problem, and so did the gun store owner, but it defied us so he took it back and gave me a full refund, including DROS tax and the cost of parts I bought to fix it. It was pre-'68 non-serial numbered, factory drilled and tapped for the installed receiver scope mount, and was a real shooter with Lyman's 309291. In retrospect, I should've bought the one chambered in .222, instead, for the same $199.

Every handgun I own get feed cast bullets and many of the rifles. Don't shoot rifle as much now days but when I do, its going to be with cast bullets, except the gas guns. The 32-20's pictured are Marlin 1889's, they get shot a lot. The Ruger is 10" old model that has seen lots of cast and shoots great. Also shown is my Marlin 1894 in 45 Colt & the Uberti in 45 Colt - both used with cast exclusively in SASS competition and many thousands of rounds; the bores have had a patch or two but no cleaning and still look great.Ruger 357M 10 #24 -003.jpg

As far as a favorite, awfully hard but for all around, the Marlin 1894 45 Colt...or maybe the 3-20's...or ?

Marlin 1894s 41 mag (circa 1988 or 89)

It's funny, for the longest time, I wasn't a fan of Leverguns. When I got this one (about 8 yrs ago), it was almost unfired. It did have an extraction issue when I got it. While figuring out the problem and fixing it, I shot at least 500 rds, maybe 1000 ? All that shooting, I discovered how much I love it.

If my Henry BB in 41 was as purty as the Marlin, I'd have to call it a tie.

Cherokee,
I have an 1866 Uberti, too, except in .38 Special, and as a favorite it is a close second to the rolling block.

159... hate you.
hope it was Canadian dollars and you had to pay in pre 74 Canadian quarters.

You'll hate me too . That's all I gave for the 222 with the scope mounted , the 30-30 325C has the White peep on it and I gave $200 for it with 2 magazines and 3 boxes of 150 gr Silver tip in the old WW yellow boxes .

That old Marlin is a family heirloom, originally bought by my Grandfathers Uncle. It came to me in the mid 80's with a bore like a sewer pipe and a half penny for a front sight. Couldn't keep factory 86 gr loads on a 5 gallon bucket at 50 yards and the high speed 60 gr loads blew primers every shot. I sent it to a smith in Texas that I've long ago forgotten the name of. I found out too late that the guy didn't have a liner with the correct twist and had turned down a 25-06 barrel for the liner. Pretty fast twist rate for a 25-20, especially with cast, it does work well though. I shot it for years with the Lyman 257420 gc bullet over 13 gr 4198 for a chrono'd 2068 fps. Later on I got in on a group buy 80gr tumble lube gc mold similar to the NOE 260-80-RF-D3 bullet built on Lee 6 cavity blocks. Extremely accurate in this rifle with 12gr-4198, I never got around to running it through the chronograph. Finally a few years ago decided the old rifle needed some lighter loads after having to replace the firing pin and ejector. Bought the NOE 260283 mold as a plain base, powder coat them, load over 9.2 gr 4198 and golf balls at 50 yards are way too easy. Cases last forever with the lighter load so that is a big plus. Wish I had a Lee collet sizer die to make it even better.

Ma Duce will shoot through 150 year old mahogany trees and three feet of sand bags. Never got tired of shooting one. The queen of the battle field if you could get her there. :D

I always hate these kinds of questions, it's like asking which one of your children is my favorite. I like all my rifles and handguns as they all have their own unique personality when it comes to what they like shot in them, but that half the fun of casting for everything you shoot regardless of if it's my 1933 Mosin M91/30 or my newly acquired Rem. 770 in 30-06.

If I had to pick one though it would probably be my old Sav. 99 in 300 Sav.

Really enjoying the R700 22-250 at the moment but honestly, any of my bolt guns are just too much fun blasting uber accurate CB's out of.
