What is your weather today?

Hot and dry here several days of 90's in a row. Went for a MC ride last evening when it clouded up around 5. Put on 53 miles and it cleared back up a little while after we left. Even on the Indian we were hot. Couldn't wait to get home to the AC.

Promised severe thunder storm must have evaporated. Weather service keeps promising rain but it always seems to dissipate before happening.

:sigh: Nasty storm last night. A big oak just behind one of my out buildings on the south side of the building came down just missing the building. The trunk of this tree split into two trunks about 12-15 feet up, was one of those trunks that was directly over the building that came down. Storm came from the north to the south and blew the downed trunk just behind the building. Lucky me, that oak would have squashed that aluminum building flat. Looks like 90 degrees today with 80%+ humidity will be spent with chain saw in hand. :sigh:

Was just out prowling around the homestead and noticed that we too had a blow-down. Is about 25 feet from our pond; fell toward/into the pond just missing the fountain in the middle where our geothermal water dumps. 40-50 foot tall tree with a 14-16 inch dia. base. Tree looks like it was healthy. Not sure what kind of tree; bark like oak, but leaf like willow (black willow, maybe?)

We had a high of 77 (scheduled 71), with another clear blue sky. It's almost the middle of June and I tell you people, something is not right. Oh, the drought is right enough and nothing new to any part of the Southwest, but the absence of gloom, here, is most weird.

Greta needs to find some poor man to make miserable.

Ran around town on some errands this afternoon, got Marie's Jeep serviced and other drag sequences not related to shooting/hunting/fishing. On my way past the kitchen at the end of my assigned chores, I saw asparagus and corn-on-the-cob being prepped for supper. Marie works me like a rented mule, but feeds me well. I'm not going anywhere.

Temps topped out at 98* today, low humidity so we are getting by with fans and open windows.

Could be a walnut tree, lot's of them here and rather similar bark but a more pointy leaf. Outstanding firewood, burns with more BTU's than anything else you find around here. Let me know if you need help with it.

Unfortunately, not walnut. 99% sure it's a willow. Not all bad. Willow does make the best charcoal for black powder.

93* right now, it might add a few more degrees over the next couple hours. Dry air, light breeze--so no A/C yet this year.

Our AC took it's last breaths on Thursday, the 3rd. It's 28 years old, and the main control board went up in flames... (it had tripped the breaker, and when I reset the breaker, one of the relays shorted out). Had a couple of companies look at it, and we've decided replacement is the only reasonable option. We picked a company, and we're waiting to see when they can fit us into their schedule. Of course the forecast is for a continuous string of almost 100 degree days - like today.
I remember growing up without AC, but I don't remember it being this miserable!! And the fact that SWMBO is miserable, just adds to my discomfort!!!
Anyway, life goes on...

The morning woke up remembering it's June, with gloomy overcast and patchy fog. Then, about 10:00, it decided to be September, with a high of 77 (again) and a clear sky.

Growing up in the Ohio River valley with summer days of 95+ and 95+ humidity, is one of the reason I live in the desert. Nothing like a 6 person family in a 400 square foot cabin where you started sweating in May and were wet until October.

Started out at 54 yesterday morning at dawn. Got up to 90. Around 7 pm I asked Sue fi she wanted to go for a MC ride and of course she jumped on the chance with the proviso that I was feeling up to it. After the weed spraying fiasco I took a shower and some vitamin I and when I felt better we mowed the yard. It was hot and dusty. Re-showered, ate Supper and jumped on the Indian.

When we left the shed the temp was 89. We only put on 40 miles and while monitoring the air temperature we saw a range of 89 down to 69. After a long shady stretch in a valley at 72, we stopped and put on our leather jackets.

There still isn't a damned cloud in the sky. Day after day of clear blue sky. We are now watering flower beds besides the raised garden beds.

If I don't feel contagious after Wednesday, the cast bullet shoot will go on as scheduled. Maybe having some nice rifles exposed will produce some rain.

Sky just rumbled and opened up with a deluge that lasted about twenty minutes. Rivers are running down the driveway and street. Temps in the 60's.

Almost summer here, mid 90’s in the day with lows about 20* less at night. In summer it will be hitting 3 digits daily…
