What is your weather today?

Eastern WA and OR low yesterday 26 High 27 and still snowing this morning. Another 6 inches of powder, but not too bad to shovel. Suppose to turn to rain this afternoon when temps get up to 34.

As usual, no snow. No sub-60-degree days nor sub-40-degree overnight temperatures, neither. Rain would be nice, though.

I think I made a dreadful error. I made that trip to Texas and fell in love with inshore fishing in the Gulf. Now the weather up here seems cold. I was outside for about 2 hours in the singe digits cleaning up the drifts and shoveling paths with a gentle northerly zephyr that never used to bother me. Now all I can think about are the fishing porn videos I've been binge watching. Florida Keys, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, aaarrggghhhh!

I saw some hunting land not far from us for sale, $7,500 and acre. Hmmmmm, sell part of this frozen place, buy a flats boat, find a place to snow bird for the next ten years, stop fishing for fish under a foot long from a frozen hole in the ice, sell the hover craft. "Boss, de plane de plane!"

Woke up to almost 1/2" of the white stuff on the ground. Just stopped snowing. Regardless of 25 degree temps, a half hour of bright sun just melted recently fallen snow and we're back to a half inch on the ground.

Been pretty cold here and pretty cold again tomorrow, daytime highs of -7 and windchills -20–40 , depending on wind. It’s been interesting at work and tough on machines. All this equipment has many sensors that give false readings when it gets this cold, hence often shutting down emergency alert systems for oil/ temp etc. A mechanics nightmare in short. Often heat directed in the correct area solves the problems.
The trucks we drive have the exhaust diverted through the space between the box and box liner, to semi heat the box, but in these temps the stripping material we haul freezes in the box in short order. When that happens we go get a “back scratch” from a backhoe.79FEBC37-A394-45CF-B0B4-998206D7BF4E.jpeg

We're down in the -20s tonight (and then there's the wind, which certainly does suck). Got a call, text, and email from the schools, they're cancelling everything for tomorrow. Wife got a call from work not long after, work from home if possible, don't come in if you don't have to. At least they'll be home.

Tomorrow is supposed to warm up from -27 to at least a few degrees above zero. Bit of a ridiculous swing, but I'll take it.

we got enough snow last night that they closed the middle and grade school, the high school was still open though.
then today the temp just kinda wandered around from about 28 to 35 degrees, it depended on where you happened to be standing at the time.
kind of weird to see snow in the back yard and rain in the front yard at the same time.
the roads were the same way, left lane snow, right lane rain and ice on the road.

we must have the dumbest snow plow drivers.
they would plow one street going east to west from one side of town to the other.
so then you'd struggle through the ice, snow, slush all the way to one of those streets and be greeted by a 3' tall wall of snow.
shoot across the intersection trying to get some traction [ignoring traffic control signs] and slam into the wall on the other side of the street.
i have no idea how anybody gets around in a little car here.

Fifteen degrees, here. Little wind for this AM, out of the north. Turning to the SE after the sun rises. Think I'll do some more cold weather lube testing with the 338W. High today will hover around the freezing mark. The 3/4" of snow, received yesterday, is pretty much gone except for grassy areas and the woods.

About 10 below right now but no wind. Whatever crud I have does not respond well to me going out in the cold and exerting myself. After snow shoveling and struggling with a motorcycle jack yesterday I got good and chilled. I came in the house and went downhill all afternoon. Slept poorly, got out of bed to sleep in a chair. In the dark I sat down on a cat. That didn't work out so I stumbled down stairs to sleep in a recliner, accidentally kicked the same cat on the stairs. Got down stairs to my recliner, big fat white cat sleeping there first, I slept on the sofa sitting up, if you could call it sleep. But now I have a cup of coffee and a home made muffin and Sue fired up the wood stove and all is well.

Light rained here yesterday. Got a total of .2 ". The air was clean this 5am. Normally smells like volcano ash / dust. But then there is always some old spout slewing ash somewhere around this area. Sabancaya is 60 miles away and the most active.
Our total rain last year was just over 4" here in our valley. Much more rain / snow up high to fill the water resevoirs.

L Ross we have a sauna that we use 2 to 3 times a week in the winters, really drives the chill out. Now that I’m getting out of the Great PNW on the wet side, I’m starting to dry out. The sauna would have been great in the wet cold of that area.
Anyway get better, Rick H has some Sage advice, follow Doc Rick H’s advice. You don’t need a hospital visit now days .

Sunny and 23F @ 9AM. Snow? I remember from a long time ago going through the snow tunnel to get to the Mt Rainer lodge. They skied out of the 3rd story windows. That is snow.
