Too warm , too wet , soggy clothes , rain makes it worse , sun makes it worse but eventually better just in time for more rain ...... I'm not saying I'd rather be under the smoke plumes hoping for heavy rains but I just can't get used to sweat wet wiping it out of my eyes soaked to my knees .

I've used cheal heater filters over box fans extensively through the year's year around just to keep the house cleaner . I know that's hokey and redneck but 2 in the house were salvation when it was smokey and you really don't realize how much junk is floating around until you're beating out 60&90 day filters every 14-21 . Off season clearance buck apiece 3&5 packs . It was amazing at first , then it showed up just how much trash was getting sucked through the electronics , fridge , and freezers . Which made me worry about TV life . The dust etc is only half as bad here as in the desert but I trap a lot of pollen so still a cleaner house . You guys under the plumes out of harm's way might try it just to breathe easier indoors .

RB, those of us in the deserts just about all used box fans and paper filters. Especially like now when the orange air is everywhere.

At least getting fall temperatures, 45 this morning at 0600 and predicting 90 this afternoon. Sun is really late and slow coming up this time of year.

Rick just throwing it out there , nobody ever told me and until I really looked at the volume of fuzz ........ Born in the Mojave desert raised in the Great Basin desert you'd have thought it would have kicked in before I was 40 ........
Now in the land of A/C its just as obvious .
Having visited 9.3s neighborhood and Buckshots home knowing that they're in a very temperate area with little need of heating or cooling as a rule I thought it might not have been a thought or maybe a forgotten thought . Sure cuts down the allergy stuff too .

Home was 60 miles NE of El Capitan in Yosemite about where the shadow notch in the big plume of that satellite picture I posted lays . Now I live 34 miles from the home of "drugs for guns" and 90 from "the childhood home of Slick Willie" um I meant W "Bill" J Clinton . Cedar season sucks . Raining again today ....... Tomorrow I'll dump the goat water kiddie pool in the duck pen so they can have tadpole soup . Got 1-1/2" from the hurricane sweep and 8"+ from the 3 following cells 6 all in one . It does keep the goat pools and ducks full .

Back about 10-12 years ago. The State drained Lake Zepernick, near me. It had ben overcome with invasive species.
They decided to kill everything off and make it a prime environment for LARGE MOUTH. It had 3 live springs in 42 acres. So they dug 3 streams to keep the water out till it could dry up and they could work it. It was in brush and other vegetation by that winter.
Drug a bunch of stuff out there. Brush, logs, artificial iron reefs, old boats, Striped bodies of old state vehicles, old metal culverts, piles of rocks etc.
Well this being around pre existing wetland and fields it quickly became a Rabbit haven that winter. It took 18 months for them to get the rest of the funding to fill it and stock it.
Lets just say I had 2 very good years of rabbit hunting there, and have walked every inch of of that lake bottom.
To make a long story short.
You were talking about fishing in the what ya doin' thread, and I saw that pick of boats and that lake here.
I was thinking it might be good to drive over there and get a pole in the water. Been over a year since I have been out there. I know of at least 4 prime spots,( 6 if the water level is low) I can reach from the shore.
Supposed to be cooler with an overcast later this week. Bet It would be a great weekend for Large mouth.

From yesterday, didn't get posted--

Agriculture--the world's ONLY ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL industry.

Nice day today, supposed to reach 90*. Windows open and nice breeze playing through right now. All of the clouds and most of the smoke blew out today, with the mild Santa Ana wind condition that onset (finally). Humidity dropped drastically overnight--55% when/64* I went to bed, 88* and 8% right now. (12:30 PM/9-9)

Today--89*, low humidity, some smoke and haze. 93* predicted high today, so kinda mild and pretty nice. We only ran the A/C for about 3 hours yesterday, 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. That is likely for today, as well--windows open to let in the smoke. It's not like 462's sitch, not real bad here--but noticeable.

Did a bit of a gunshop crawl yesterday after my repair stop at The Fake Foot Foundry. Shawn at ASK Defensive actually had some handguns in stock, several of which sang their Siren Songs sweetly. S&W Model 69 x 4.2", S&W 686+ x 6", and a small fleet of Bergara bolters. It has been a full year since my last New Toy came home. Pricing was fair, too--not screamin' deals, but fair prices 5%-10% under MSRP. Given that non-existent Colt Pythons are bringing $3K up front to order them, pricing for the 2 NIB S&Ws was a bit of a surprise. Shawn isn't a buccaneer. He actually had some pistol ammo on hand, too--though none of the 38 Special 158 LSWC/HP +P that has been unobtainium for over a year. Some day, maybe.

Gorgeous day woke in the low 50's, high of 67 with deep blue skies and sun. Autumn is almost here. About time.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
It's been rather strange, this week. In addition to the smoke and ash, though they have diminished, there has been an unusual and unseasonal fog and some sort of general haze. This morning, the fog has reduced visibility to 300-yards.

Water vapor collects on particulates in the air, quite possibly I would think the smoke is what's aiding foggy conditions. I guess. Hell, I don't but sounds good huh?

After viewing the pollution spewing from Gavin's mouth at Oroville yesterday it wouldn't surprise me if the whole state is overcast this morning.

While I agree that's true and I agree it's funny . . . Let's not stray any deeper into politics. Okie dokie?

True enough, as far as it goes. However, this morning's stuff is definitely fog, because it's foggy colored, rather than the yellow stuff that's been so prevalent.

We have had the wettest summer on record. Well this morning will be the first light frost. High 50's to low night time temp's in the mid 30's this week, first time it's drying out in a long time. Hopefully will stay dry for a couple of days. Just at 13 hours of sunlight, down from over 21 hours on June 20th.
30 days till snow fall. Winters coming Jon Snow.

Heard on the news they have arrested 6 people so far for arson in WA, OR, CA.

Good.
The destruction in southern Oregon where my kids and grandkids are is as bad as Paradise Ca. Malden Wa as well from what I've heard.
If these fire are being intentionally set, it needs to be the death penalty or life without parole. Sick people.
