What is your weather today?

Should be the death penalty. I'm sure people would line up for miles for a chance to be on the firing squad.

I think public hanging might be a good deterrent.

Much too quick for anyone that would do that. Many hundreds of homes burned, don't even know yet how many dead, 100's of thousands of acres of prime forest gone.

Burning at the stake sounds good to me. They like fire, let them get up close & personal with it. I'm not heartless, I do believe they should get a fair legitimate trial by a jury of those that lost homes.

I would like to know, if this was arson, was it committed by one of the catch and release individuals, or to put it more delicately, repeat anarchist. If that would be the case, the politicians responsible should suffer the same sentence.
I'm done. I will get political if I keep going.

Strange weather here today. Low yesterday 44 and this morning 45, but high was 71. Seems the smoke is so high and dense, 510 on the scale, the sun light isn't getting to the ground enough to heat. Yellow/grey haze is pulling fog and moisture over from the coast, almost 200 miles. Strange air currents up there.

That is possibly what's happening where I live too, Ric. Daytime highs are lower than normal for mid-September, though not grossly so.

The consensus view among wildland fire investigators I worked with was to take convicted wildland arsonists up with the aircraft that drop water and Phos-Chek and kick the convict out of the aircraft right above the conflagration. Parachute optional.

9th circuit . Trial in Utah . Death penalty , 3 choices , hanging , firing square or injection all on the books , or at least they were as recently as Gary Gilmore . 198? ? Knowing the way things are it'd be in SFO instead ......

Cloudy and 90 the threat of rain . We'll probably get drowned again on the trailing edge of the current hurricane .

Ric,
You are correct about the sun not being able to do its thing. Local daytime temperatures have been a minimum of five degrees less than normal, all due to the smoke. Living with fires and their smoke and ash is not anything new to us, but I've never seen it as bad as it's been for the last month, or so.

The junk in the air has diminished noticeably, and the sky is beginning to look its old June gloom self. Air quality is 385, down about 100 points from yesterday. Looks like we may have turned the corner on the eerie, other-world sky.

OK Getting Back To "Weather"
Definitely a Note of Fall in the air! Low humidity , Blue skies and temps in the low 70's! Windows closed at night and trying not to turn on the heat ...even though I'm getting that look from the little lady!
Indoor cats are loving it and running around the house like crazies! Their appetites are picking up! Sure sign of Fall weather!
Ah, I can feel a lot of Smelting in the air! although my back says no way!

Just when I thought things were clearing up, the air quality has gone back up to 506.

Local news last had the death count from the fires at 33. crying-face.png Odds are they don't know the real count yet.

Smoky haze in MN last night and this morning also. Sun is "glowing" through.
Suppose to be 75 or so today...But if the weather dude didn't account for the smoke screen, I suspect it'll be cooler.

The weather guessers have shown satellite photos of the fire-smoke plumes extending well into the northern tier of states, over Lake Superior and beyond. 98* was the high today, 96 right now with 18% humidity. Still smoky and somber.
