What is your weather today?

Don't know what it was like after 9 A.M. here, we went out to the Mojave National Preserve when our day dawned overcast and gray. Incredible beauty and mild 85* temps at mid-afternoon. You would guess you are central Utah, and would never guess that you were 3.5 hours' driving time from Duckie Island in the lake at MacArthur Park in downtown Lost Angeles.

Was 66* at daybreak, yesterday, little to no wind, was out hunting with the camera. Sun came up as usual, and remained that way till @ 9:30 AM and approaching 70 degrees. Dark clouds rolled in, wind turned from the south to the north, temps started to tumble. Little thunder but no rain. This AM it's 46* with a 5 mph wind out of the northeast. Temps are suppose to pretty much stay where the are, throughout the day. Hopefully, the deer will be on the move. Rut should start this week.

About the only good thing I can say about the weather is that it is cooling off the water for future ice fishing.

17 F was the high, 1 the forecast low. It snowed sideways off and on and the average visibility was less than 1/2 mile. Oh Big Game opener as well.

35* as I woke with a NW wind at about 10......nice invigorating fall morning. Looks like it is going to be a nice day.

Cloudy and cool right now (62* @ 10:30 A.M.) which is the forecast high temp for today. Small chance of rain, per the weather guessers--and the clouds seem to agree. With this cool weather onset, it's time to hit the mountains with deer tag and rifle. I'll likely do that mid-week.

Fiver left his door open and the cold and snow are now banging on my door.
I hope we get less than they expect, I am not ready for the drive in tomorrow with the people who forgot the roads are slick.

Hey Fiver!
I'm probably headed from Pocatello to Little America tomorrow, via Highway 30 - am I crazy, or do you think the roads will be okay??

Isn't it early for you guys to be getting snow?
Am I under the wrong impression that it doesn't snow till after Thanksgiving?
Is this snow shades of the '70s global cooling gloom and doom?

We get snow this early quite rarely. That said we had a major snowstorm in 97. With leaves still on the trees a heavy wet snow was a great source of power outages. Lots of tree branches down on power lines.
Good news is that next weekend it is supposed to be in the upper 50s.

Weather varies a lot out here. In 1973 it was -14 degree on October 27 when I went up to elk camp in the Blue Mountains. Snow as early as October 1st and some years it doesn't snow at all. All depends upon the jet stream this far north.

you'll be fine if you let the sun come up first.
we didn't get much that built up but it's cold enough to fight Ice.
