Why do I hate anything alox?

My wife came home with some hippie deodorant to try, it is (I kid you not) "fir tree" scented. First ingredient is Magnesium hydroxide. Second ingredient, coconut oil. A few more down, jojoba esters. I popped the cap, smelled it, wrinked my nose, dug a curl out with my fingernail and rubbed it between my fingers, then promptly pitched it in the pile of stuff by my chair that eventually ends up in the loading room.

Some of you know what a metal salt and a fatty acid make.

I'm still thinking about the ACS bullet lube.
I sure would like to try that at the indoor range. Make the kids with their bulk 9mils take notice.

When/if the range ever opens up again.

soapish anyway,, throw in a little lye, or some wood ash and you got something you can really work with.

Magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide are "anti-perspirants", which are bad for the skin. Only use "Tom's of Maine" sticks for men, save you skin. Not bad is the sweat runs off, but doesn't stink.

I like their toothpaste.

Been using a liquid alum salt in a pump spray form for some years and am quite happy with it. Never even tried an antiperspirant and don't intend to. Now my entire left-of-center from forehead to nipple doesn't sweat at all since they got that tumor out so I only smell half as bad anyway.

Been using Tom's of Maine toothpaste for a decade or more. Had to stop using antiperspirants about 15 years ago. Use mineral salt for deodorant and occasional cornstarch/gold bond combo for stickiness.

A little late here, but I kinda like the smell of Alox smoke on a hot July afternoon! All jokes aside that stuff smokes like crazy, but my 44 mag loves a 430-240 lee TL boolit tumble lubed in LLA. Accurate and 0 leading. I hate it, but hey it works with that load.
