Just wanting to see if anyone has a 12 gauge round ball mold. Looking for a full bore .735 or a smaller diameter for a shot cup.
Thanks

I have the lee 690 as well, the only way I've got it to shoot good is with a blue jean patch, I have 1 rifled gun and 3 smooth bores and so far ( with lots of experimenting) nothing beats federal classics, the round balls were fun though.

From everything I can read the .690 that lee makes is hard to get accuracy from. Too big to work with almost all shot cups.

I thought someone might have a .662” or .678”. Really hoped someone might have one of the Lyman .735”

Yep, that's why the Jean patch, I also tried the Mylar wrap with a nitro card and over powder gas seal, I also tried the doughnut wads with some success when the ball is that undersized something needs to center it up

Lyman .735 is not what you want. That is their Brown Bess ball and while it will fit in a brass case, will push your choke out with about 20 shots. If you have a modern rifled barrel for a strong action, you can get it to shrink down to fit, maybe. FWIW

I plan to run it in cylinder bore shotguns. A round ball has very little bearing surface so I wouldn’t be worried about sending a .735” ball down the barrel.

Just for some fun considerations... a constriction on the ball of about .003-.005 aids in the quest for accuracy.
So if you are looking at a shot cup with a ball that .003-.005 still is useful.

WAA12F114, CB1114-12 are 2 I know for sure fit the .690 very well and have had no issues with accuracy, there are at least 2 more 1 from Rem and 1 from BP that fit a .690 good. (If I can remember I will look at my load book tonight when I get home and post the other 2) They all also work with the lyman and lee slugs.

I use my .735 in my CYL CHOPED AND RIFLED barrels only. Load with a wad with pedals removed. Played with various cards to make up proper length. So far nothing fantastic accuracy wise but useable for sure.

Im wanting something I can use thru my choked guns next.
If ya would like to try some .735's drop me a PM. Maybe we can work something out.

On top of the cards / wads you want to place some filler (I use COW) under the ball to form around it to keep it square to the bore If the ball / card stack tilt to any side it will not fly straight.

How come you don't use the bp brush wads or GS? the cup should hold one of those pretty well. I've cut the brush wads in half, trimmed them and stuck a gas seal underneath, they work pretty well for the .715' RB's if I remember right - been a while. I started sticking with the smaller one so I could use the full wad protection.

Yep, I used the cups to hold center then stack and pack, keep'em tight and they fly right..

It may also depend in the construction of the wad. The Red Winchester wad was to flimsy for RB and would get crushed up into one side of the RB. First made plastic washers from water pipe beveled on the inside to help hold the ball centered.. Worked OK.
But a scoop of COW was fast and formed around a RB dropped in and vibrated a little..
You can still stack wads in the cup before the COW for height.
