Picked it up Friday, field stripped it and lubed it and then off to the range with some hand loaded JHP ammo. My cast loads for the 1911 were just a touch too long and the bullet would engage in the rifling. I was concerned about not going into battery so I took the JHP loads.
It shoots very well but now I need to practice a ton more with it to get used to the trigger, not exactly a 1911. Recoil wasn’t bad either, very controllable.

I had an XDs 9 a few years ago, never got acclimated to the trigger for some reason. I could not shoot it as well as my XD9 Compact so it went down the road. OTOH, it fit my hand well and never gave me a problem in the 1800 rounds I put thru it. I have several other XDm's so I like the platform. Now get out there and practice with it...…..

That is my intention to take it out as often as possible and pour everything thru it. 230 ball to lead 200 and see if I still enjoy it in a year. I must say it’s a piece of cake to clean compared to a 1911.

I bought one when the came out. I have shot the crap out of it and really love it. I expected much more recoil impulse than it has, and it is not much worse than a 1911. I really like the grip angle and the trigger is only getting better with use. But, I am not a thin guy and have a hard time at 5'7" and 215 pounds getting it not to print or flat come uncovered.

I use a Bladetech Elisp OWB for my XD 9 subcompact, great holster and no problem hiding it on my 5' 11" 165 lb frame with the proper clothing. You may have to alter your clothing choice.

When I had a XDS none of my ammo loaded for other 45’s would chamber in it. I have always just used the plunk test to load semi auto ammo.

If you have quite a few 45’s and want Ammon that works in any of them it may be worth your time to send it to DougGuy over on boolits.

He does excellent throating work on pistol barrels.

As Matt says above, I’ve “shot the crap out of it” and it’s only getting better. Really like the grip angle and feel, still have some work to do with the trigger though. It is smoother than new but I am not yet 100% with the length of pull you get with the striker fired system. Recoil impulse is very acceptable with 230 ball and I’m very pleased with the the accuracy. When shooting 185 JHP there is a pretty fair amount of unburnt powder left on the bench, I’m using VV320 and I suspect the barrel length has a lot to do with that.
I’m right at the 1K mark and there has not been any hiccups so far with any of the magazines or Ammo, and that includes both reloads and factory. Time to start looking at a mold.

Longone... I would imagine I am up into the 13 to 15 thousand round count in mine. After testing reloads initially, the pistol has not had a single FTF or FTE. I would 100% trust my life and my families life with it.

Jeeper’s, I better get loading and casting then. That’s quite a bit of reliability testing, how often have you been changing the recoil springs? Does Wolff make springs for it or are they SA only?

I have been using stock SA springs and change first thing out in the spring of the year and maybe once during the season if the brass starts ejecting oddly. I bet Wolff does not list springs for the pistol.

I shoot it that much because I do have other pistols that I actually like more, but do not carry due to size. I want to be assured that if I draw it... 1) that it always goes bang and 2) I always hit my intended target. My eyes are not good at short range if in my standard glasses so, all of my shooting in the 1 to 10 yard range is by simple arm extension and point. So, muscle memory... and they remember. I do not get to shoot much in the winter and it is really cold here and I do not shoot indoors unless I have to. I do back it up with a tiny Kel-tec 32 that gets shot quite a bit as well, although not as much.

A couple of years back I bought a Ruger LCP thinking it would be a nice little carry gun but I’m not really fond of that thing because when you fire it, it wants to jump out of your hand, and it’s small so it beats up you hand at the same time. I’ll admit I thought about this purchase for a long while, I was a model 23 owner for a short while but didn’t care for the feel at all.
My brass all ejects at 3:00 so I’ll keep an eye on that, thanks.

What I look for is changes in the ejection distance and changes in the ejection pattern. Now some guns never really establish a pattern but they will throw further with a weak spring.

I carry the XD-Mod.2 Sub Compact in 45ACP and really like the double stack mag grip. I have bear paws for hands and it fits nicely. I carry it in a Vedder IWB Holster at about the 2 o'clock position and it rides very good, in my vehicle, at my desk, out at breakfast/dinner. . .at least 10 hrs. a day! My load of choice is the Lee 452-200-RF nestled on top of 7.5 gr. of CFE Pistol. This is a dandy all-around load and quite accurate to 18/20 yards. I only have about 800 rounds down the barrel, but so far I'm pleased with it. . .very good concealed carry choice in my opinion.

Hi OFFSHORE,
With that bullet are you seating so the crimp groove is above or below the case?
I seat this bullet to have the case mouth just about the center of the crimp groove. . .case mouth is just above the bottom of crimp groove with a OAL of 1.18". These are a 55/45 SOWW/COWW H2O quenched and size to .452, they run on average 16 BHN and 214 grains.45ACP1.jpg45ACP2.jpg
