O.K. manufactures ( or anyone), explain this to me !

Watch what happens when he gets to the S&B red box.
He shoots two groups with them.

Ben.....I am going to go out on a limb and say you are correct.

I do not know that much about Mosins', but when factory ammo shoots like that out of a platform like that, it says alot about ammo and gun.

I wonder what that rig would do with cast ?

9.5:1 twist.

Well, I have a Finn 28/30 that will shoot MOA cast bullet groups. If you have young enough eye to see the @#&!! sights! I shot it in a couple of matches, four 5-shot groups were OK with 10 minutes between the strings. Can't shoot 10-groups with old eyes, just can't see the sights. If you can find one with a good bore, less than 1/2% that I have looked at in 20 years, you can make them shoot. They are just a different breed of cat that doesn't like modern "fixes".

That's an impressive rifle and factory ammo for sure. The owner is going to have fun trying to beat that with handloads.

I just have a 1942 Russian Mosins. Capable of 3-4" at 100 with cast loads. Would like a Finn, but they have gotten out of this world price wise.

Just so you know he does have a video using cast bullets, if you go all the way to the end of the video he demonstrates reloading and shooting a Martin Henry.

Very interesting especially if you watch the groups on the chicken.

It's been a long winter.:):):)

I had a 1944 polish that i mounted a burris scout scope on a rear site mount. I only shot surplus ammo and was hard to miss with it.

It is a battle proven weapon. Some made outside of Russia are of better quality than those made in the mother country, but they do pretty well regardless.

Make sure the cross bolts tight cuz it will kick the daylights out of you if loose. If loose working the bolt shoves the action forward so you get an extra dose when pulling the trigger. Me and 2 burly recoil junkies were tucking our tails till we figured that one out.

That is amazing for a WWII battle rifle. I looked at some of his M/N you tube video's. The triggers are so simple you can improve them with just a little polishing. That and a little glass bedding and you'd have a fun/cheap cast gun. You guy's could turn a decent one into a cloverleaf machine with cast bullets:) They are a fun rifle.

Take your cleaning rods! With a good bore, I think you could make almost any one of them a shooter.

Ricin....don't laugh, I take my bore snake with me.

I can not believe how many gun shops around here don't clean the barrels.

One of the BEST gun guys I ever made was on a M/N M-44 variant, a Romanian-made carbine with that folding bayonet gizmo. $65, like new. Bore was pristine.

M/N buffs told me to shoot it with bayonet in place and extended. THAT would play well at Angeles or Inland......NOT. I removed the Fascist-sticker and its departure remains unmourned. I scrounged up some Russian sporting ammo with 154 grain soft points and gave them a test-drive......DANG, this stuff would SHOOT. Basically a bug-hole at 50 yards, 5 shots. At 100 yards, 1.5"-1.75"/5 shots was the rule. Awrighty, then.

The brass was Boxer-primed and fit WLRs just fine. Throat is a fat .310", grooves right at .310". Sized Lee 312-185s @ .311" and seated to kiss the leade atop 16.0 grains of 2400.......1.1"-1.5" at 50 yards/5 shots. All shooting done with OEM open irons. It is one heck of a truck/Jeep rifle.

The LGS doesn't have any cleaning rods for you to use. "But, if it's bad, bring it back."
