.250 Savage cast load

I have developed a .250 Savage cast load that shoots well in my 1:10 twist Savage 16 Weather Warrior.
It consists of a Saeco 100g bullet cast from Lyman #2 alloy, sized in a push thru from the bottom sizing die while applying a gas check. Cases not sized at all, case mouth chamfered a wee bit, to aid seating and charging with 14.3 to 14.5g of Reloder 7 and a Winchester large PISTOL primer. A Lee factory crimp die is used to insure a tight and uniform crimp.
This load with Remington 9 1/2 or the Winchester large pistol primer consistently gives me 5 shot groups at 100 yards of 1.5 inches with many groups close to, or even better than 1 inch. I would like to add that the boolits were lubed with Ben's liquid lube after sizing and checking.

That's great.
I've tried ( not to the degree that I have with 7mm , .30 cal., and .35 cal. rifles ) with the .22, .24's and .25 to get them to shoot cast well. I never had a lot of luck.

my first high speed win was with the 223.
i simply used the same bullet and powder amount in the 22-250 and 220 swift to get the same results.
i haven't tried cast in a 24 or 25 [other than the 25-20] or 26 cal.

Sounds good. What are you shooting these in? I have a 99R I want to try cast in, I had planned on only developing a squirrel load with some plain based 25-20 bullets, though.

Any idea how fast that's moving along?

Bret-- the last time I chronographed this load I was still on the ranch 2 years ago. At that time that load chronographed 1695fps from my Oehler 35 with 5 foot screen spacing.

Lots of playtimes with 250 Savage and 243 Win with cast bullets. 12.0 to 14.0 grains of Alliant 2400 gave 1500-1700 FPS and excellent accuracy.
