An armadillo @50 Wed nite and a hog @ 100 Thurs nite, with thermal. Thermal is a rabbit hole. 135gr FTX. I hit the Armadillo fist shot but it kept kept moving so I hit it again. Big boy about 15#. Gone the next morning, - I tried to call the yotes, they got it over nite. Saw a rabbit hopping past the feeder (birds ate all the remaining corn), feeder is off the the left of the pic. Then 1/2 hr later the hog comes moseying along, didn't find corn and kept going. Hit the hog while it was moving, it ran into the tree line, I could see it moving about but no 2nd shot. Not going into the brushy tree line, day or nite - it's a mess.

mmm,, check that throat.
i've looked at 3 different 300's and none of them were the same.
the funny thing is the ammo i developed for the tightest throat wouldn't chamber in the middle sized one.
it had a taper that was a bit big, but the barrel was some tight at the end of it.

the third one is slop and will just about chamber 8mm bullets... shoots good though.

I have 3, 2 will take 309-310 but the carbine won't take anything larger than 3085. It shoots the best. But it is a custom McGowan barrel. The throat (or freebore) is long with taper at/to the bore - have to watch that dim. so bullets don't jam. As I use a Promos trigger shooting stick, I made a 'handle' from some webbing (bout 6" long), attached to the front sling point. I can hold the stick head and it in the hand so the barrel doesn't fly off when I shoot. My cast loads run 2100 and jacketed 23-2400.

Getting ready to shoot this bird.think im gonna shoot jacketed out of it,for a 100 rounds or so.

Cast is gonna be real intresting.
It has a .3075 throat
Bore is .3078 at chamber end
.3085 at the muzzle.

Assbackwards!!!but it should be intresting!!
I am anxious to see how it shoots.paid 248 bucks shipping and tax incl, whole upper bc and all,,,so i know i didnt buy a hand lapped barrell,,,

That aint good!!

Have you contacted manufacturer??

Have ya shot it yet? Many times things shoot "IN-SPITE" of short comings.

I have a couple BADLY UGLY bores that shoot just fine.

I need to find a muzzle thread chaser for my barrel. Evidently got dinged in transit or messed up by shop. Need to put a flash can on it as I see the flash from shot on thermal - loose a couple seconds after the shot. So no fast follow-up. Somebody was selling a split die but I can't find it anymore. Also have to get me a thread measuring tool, can't find the one I had. Should be AR15 threads but I need to check.

When I don't have a thread gage, I use my caliper and take a picture over several threads. The 300BO would probably be threaded 5/8-24. 5 threads x 1/24 = .208. I set my caliper to .208, try to hold it lined up on the threads and snap a picture. Then zoom into the picture and count. (You could also use the teeth of a 3/8-24 tap or bolt as a thread gage.)

Shot cast in the bo this weekend.
The lee155 feeds and shoots nice.no groups under an inch, but no wide fliers, bet it will shoot small, once i figure it out.
I did shoot some tiny groups with 311359,,but they had to be hand fed,,wouldnt feed,,

You'll run into that with some of the shorter bullets, particularly if they don't have pointy noses.

Finally was able to do some shooting today, used the 300bo.
Pretty safe bet that i can shoot the lee 155 bullet, under an inch@50,,on demand.
As a plus,it seems to like being drove hard.more and more 4227,and it tightens right up.
Still to muddy for the chrono, but i was discing primers today,so im real close to max.

Playing with my CVA SS today. Looks like it will take 310 bullets. Now to find an expander that will work. 309 with 4227 (even GCd) was all over the place. I checked fired cases, will take 313 but don't fit chamber. IIRC it shot cast good last time I tried but after scope messed up, rail came loose, I don't know. My 30/30 spud may expand right size, if I can get some loaded by tomorrow I can continue testing and take the extra Nikon this weekend.

1680 is fast becoming my favorite powder.
It will shoot faster then 4227,or h110,,,and still not show the pressure signs.
And it shoots small groups, wide open throttle!!

Popper i have to segregate brass for my AAC.
XXX and 310 won't barely chamber, fine with 308 though.
LC brass needs necks turned, as does 1-2 other brands.
PITA, but it works once i got it figured out.
