Sierra and Hornady make a few non-toxic bullets these days--none to serve 38/55, though--or 25/20 and 32/20. I will refrain from bitter commentary about the motives of my home state for this stupidity, but mostly it's about dissuading anglers and hunters from pursuing fish & game. This ignores enthusiastically that it's sport fishing and sport hunting license fees that fund the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife, but whatever.

Same in WA, population is 225% greater than when I moved here in 1973. Hunting and fishing license sales are down 75%. Fish and Game wonder why they have no budget.

I have an old Waffle Top Marlin someone built into a .38-55. I like it a lot. Cast and shot up a pot of Lee bullets, but lucked into a licsl Craigslist sale of 60 pounds of commercial cast bullets for it and have been shooting those up. I need to hunt with it one day.
