Interesting note on my now pair of Smith 44 Specials. The 624 has .432" throats. The 21-4 has ~.4305" throats.

Guess Smith used diff throat reamers on the diff 44 Specials, just like they did on the various Model 625 45 ACP models! Just crazy. The 624, in prelim testing, shoots accurately. I expect the 21 with smaller throats to do better. And most say the 21 is very accurate. Hope so.

Another note. Trigger pull weights (all SA pull weights)"
624 (non-lock): 3 1/4 lbs
21-4 (lock): 3 3/4 lbs (kinda surprised me, in a good way, based on some things I have heard on the lock models)
17-2 (non-lock, or course): 2 1/2 lbs!

Need to check my 10-3, although I know it has a very good trigger.

The 19-4 357 I traded for the 21-4 last week had the best trigger of any revolver, and any Smith I have ever pulled, albeit one other (and it was hand picked out of 650 revolvers that the AL SP bought). I am convinced this one had something done to the trigger.

I am going to replace springs in the 21 and 624. And may remove the lock in the 21. Oh yeah - have I mentioned I am a trigger snob?!? I am also considering having both the 21 and 624 fitted with trigger over-travel stop screws. That (imo) LONG SA over-travel annoys the snot out of me!
